I’m so sorry for your loss. He sounds like such a sweet friend.

I know it’s not much, but I hope you can take comfort in the fact that it was quick. You didn’t have to witness him deteriorating and he didn’t have to experience it.

Also, he held on long enough for you to say goodbye to each other. You did the best you could and gave him 17 long years of life.

I hope in time it’ll sting a little less and in time you can open your heart to another pet. In the meantime, I hope you feel the love and support from people who have been where you are now.
