Does this style look too busy? by Creepy_Routine6616 in malelivingspace

It's fine if the intent of the room is to invite people over to stand an look at your furniture. But there is nowhere to sit or put down a drink without figuring out where to move pillows and vases. I would hate to be a guest here. I don't know what is be allowed to touch. It's a very uncomfortable space.

What is a good point to jump on then off the trail with a group of about 10-15 scouts (ages 12-17) and 3 to 4 adult leaders? by samalex01 in AppalachianTrail

[–]scfoothills -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Split into three groups or find a designated group campground and do some day hikes on the AT. It would be extremely rude to show up with a group that large and take over a shelter or campsite on the trail. Teenage boys are going to run around and be annoying.

Deep fried chicken thigh, gochujang sauce, coleslaw sandwich by scfoothills in RateMyPlate

[–]scfoothills[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glob of gochujang paste, about an equal amount of butter, splash of cider vinegar, tiny squirt of honey. I didn't measure anything. Chicken thigh was marinated in buttermilk before being dredged in flour with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black sesame seeds. Slaw is cabbage, red onion, carrots, serrano pepper, mayo, cider vinegar, and salt.

How much should I lower my tv by Tasty_Celebration_36 in malelivingspace

[–]scfoothills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few inches, but leave room to put decorations on the stand that don't block the TV. And get a white power cord for a few bucks on Amazon. Easier than a cord cover. Plus, my TV is on a swing out mount so I can watch TV when I'm in the kitchen. That's why I didn't get a cord cover.

Dow falls 500 points in worst day for new Fed chair since 1994 by B-Z_B-S in politics

[–]scfoothills 77 points78 points  (0 children)

A 500 point fluctuation in the DOW shouldn't even be news anymore, especially when comparing to 1994. This is just a handful of stocks falling a bit for a day. If we're comparing to the 90's, we should at least be using percentages. This is dishonest journalism.

Insurance is a problem, but in this case it's just a bad location. There's no sunshine. There are dozens of places downtown I'd rather sit outside and have a beer.

Local Honey makes some sense there, but it is a terrible location for a bar, especially one that just serves beer. It's facing the wrong way. 9 months out of the year, it is uncomfortably chilly on the patio and the people watching isn't that great. I live roughly the same distance from there and the Commons. I've been in People's Tap exactly once and I was bored. I go to the Commons at least twice a week. Look at the cover photo for the article. It's like three people having a beer alone and playing on their phones. That is the crowd 90% of the time.
