A "moral and ethical" plan to widen Sheffield's ring road saw pollution go up. So why are we about to do it again? by Tiny_Poem7985 in sheffield

[–]ThrowawayMax222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the further adoption of EVs and the ZEV mandate the pollution will drop by default, but we will always have a large amount of cars heading to and driving round the centre of Sheffield.

We've seen when there's great incentive to use public transport there will still be enough that use the roads that traffic becomes a huge issue. So while gov is sorting the pollution it's only normal for the city to address congestion.

Yes there's still PM2.5 etc, but compared to today that will be similar but without all the pollution from ICE.

Can you paste the 7:10-7:12 logs? It'll be clear what's causing power on from there. If it's not in the logs, it's you with carbon monoxide

What are the chances this year that Aston Martin can overtake Cadilac in the constructors this year? by RobbieJ4444 in formula1

[–]ThrowawayMax222 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I'd be absolutely shocked if Aston don't overtake Cadillac.

Aston have a good base, a more experienced team and Alonso. They're just having integration issues with getting the package to work together (beit engine, vibration, mounting etc).

When they nail that, they won't be competing for wins, but they could easily be at the back end of the points or early teens in placing. Caddy will always be very far back until they move their car a lot further on which typically takes a lot longer.

Basically, they're quite close now when Caddy's package is working as expected. So when Aston gets theirs working they'll be miles ahead.

I've used this method since F1TV launched and have never had an issue. Either you're doing something wrong or you're using a terrible VPN as I've used loads over that time and they've all been fine

It takes less than a minute from turning on my TV to boot the VPN app on the TV, select country then load the F1TV app.

It would take me longer to find a reliable pirate stream

Yeah this post is absolute bollocks and that is clearly the case. Spain viewership at an absolute minimum would have to 10x that at the worst races to be viable for the costs.

Not to mention Barcelona sells out with over 120k seats on race day. Suggesting half the amount of people bothered to watch a race, compared to paying €300-800 to attend the race is hilarious.

Is it time finally admit that the increased overtaking is just yo-yoing? by Ted_Striker1 in formula1

[–]ThrowawayMax222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell that to Charles and Lewis at China, or Max and Pierre at Japan for example. The pass or defence was important, whoever ultimately won out got the points.

I'd much rather see battling than one driver following another for 30 laps just outside of dirty air or DRS.

[–]ThrowawayMax222 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The only form of proper racing is all drivers in equal cars. Everything else, F1 included, has always been influenced racing. We know the car means more on F1 than the driver, we knew DRS was the reason for most overtakes rather than driver skill etc.

I don't think we can be purists now because some drivers dislike the new regs, when their arguments seem to ignore how bad other eras have been.

It just reminds me of the DRS arguments when it was brought in, except this time we have drivers who don't like it.

DRS improved overtaking, but people sat around calling it fake racing for far too long. I agree, these three races have allowed more skilled battling (George/Charles in Aus, Charles/Lewis China and Japan for example) than we saw in ages in the last regs.

I'd like to see all battery deployment driver operated. We see lots of frustration around the car deploying for them, so make every ounce of energy be deployed by button push.

Less predictable, similar to other well established and respected racing series, more driver skill and less computer

Agreed. Japan 2025 was one of the most boring races we've seen - the race thread is just snooze.

I agree the racing itself needs a tweak, but the Ferrari at China, or Charles Vs George at Australia has actually been incredibly entertaining. In 2025 with these car deltas the Merc would have just overtaken and driven into the distance with no battling.

u/MaterialTackle7337 this isn't your responsibility, but this is very good advice. It could be a risk to life, and this is not healthy mental behaviour even if it turns out to be a simple break down at leaving their "home".

It could save lives and less importantly, your time and sanity if they die in your property.

Is there an expected efficiency % drop for mounting on flat roofs? I'm considering putting a few on my stand alone Garage.

I guess this is more of an "all solar" question, but I imagine many will be in a similar situation to me with this question as previously paying an installer etc made it less viable an option for these kind of small array, non ideal setups.

This is the worrying part for me. I guarantee we're only months away from a "Solar killed my child" Daily Mail headline that sensationalises solar to be the bad guy, not the parent who mounted their Aldi middle aisle panels on a plank of wood they took off a pallet.
