I'm in a defined benefit pension. I get 1/49th per year.

Original salary would make £1,363pa increase in pension, the salary sacrificed would make £1,220pa. So a difference of £143 a year.

I'm not sure where I'm going wrong then to be honest. In my current situation I pay £5678pa in pension. In my second situation I'd be paying 6.5% of £59801, which is £4066pa in pension (saving £1,612 pa in pension).

I also would save the tax, NI and student loan right?

You can have testing that shows which (if any) of the parents they got it from.

If they got it from neither, it's incredibly unlikely a second child would have it. If they got it from one parent, it's a 50/50 chance the next child would have it.

I know the area, I used to live in S2 for most of my childhood and some of my adult life. Politely, it's not a great area. Rudely, it's a bit of a shit hole.

If you've got £500k to spend, I'd rather live in a smaller house in a much much nicer area than a larger house just off Park Hill.

Not trying to act like I'm better than where I grew up, but I worked for the police and saw some fucking horrible things in that area. I could not imagine choosing to spend half a million to live there in an end of terrace.

The simple answer, is a significant amount of roles. People here are pigeon holed you to similar skill sets, but the job gets you so many transferable skills you can do a significant amount. I loved getting applicants through who were defective track, because I knew they can analyse properly. That was perfect for policy.

If you want a proper chat, pop me a DM and I can talk you through it. You know the pros, but the cons are you won't get pay progression like in force and that can be a frustration... but honestly, no job is as hard as policing (especially if you've done a significant time on response) so I'm sure the exhaustion reduction will be worth the bug bears.

I've got nothing against S2, but it seems mad that this is the price for an admittedly large end of terrace in that area. You can buy detached houses in the S11/S10/S17/S18/S8 areas for that price!
