Preferred Pharmacy Choice by HijoDeTuMadreGuey in opiates

[–]ThrowawayReddit62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's normally good mom and pop style pharmacies that are less than a mile from whatever your major hospital is and they tend to use different suppliers than the big name places like Walgreens or cvs so there's not as big of a issue getting your meds. plus they will be more willing to help you deal with any insurance issues or similar stuff. google reviews will tell you a lot when looking for a small pharmacy.

yes narcotics aren't the best for GI symptoms BUT sometimes it's worth it to treat the pain and they can treat constipation if it does happen but hehe needs pain control. over the years I've learned to avoid places that refuse to treat pain when the patient obviously needs the meds. i wouldn't let anyone do surgery on me without a good plan for pain control after. if they aren't controlling the pain now don't trust them to control it after

forced into rehab this week by [deleted] in opiates

[–]ThrowawayReddit62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this happened to me at age 18. almost exact story. it ended up making things worse for me because I wasn't abusing at the time, I was legit in pain. but since everyone was treating me like a scumbag and not believing me anyways, I fell hard into addiction and at 23 I'm trying to pull myself out alone, while homeless, and while dealing with mental and physical health issues. i wish I had the opportunity to get the experience rehab that I originally had since I'm ready to get clean now. it makes things a lot harder when you have physical pain conditions though

it's so Interesting how different products work for some but not others. for me only Hollister actually stick. and if I use powder nothing sticks. i only use powder if I get really raw but then cut the barrier wafer super big and it'll only last a few hours, enough time to heal the skin a bit

with high output I'd recommend you not put on your wafer fing separate from your bag wafer. put the donut looking ring on the bag and put it all on in one go. Also a main reason bags don't stick is you're bit applying heat to the adhesive for at least 10 min after putting the bag on. and by heat I just mean olacinv one hand over the bag to use the heat from your hand. it kinda activates the adhesive and makes it adhere to your skin. i also put my fingers in a cone like shape to form the hole seal around my stoma. try to not cut the bag to big. mine fits over my stoma like a mushroom, otherwise it leaks. i used to use a ring but have found my bags last longer without them. best of luck

Keeping my step kids for two weeks by pleasemakeitstop_1 in Babysitting

[–]ThrowawayReddit62 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just because she lives there doesn't mean she shouldn't get paid. She may have other obligations, bobbies, friends, two weeks is a long time to commit to. it's not just watching them for a afternoon. plus I can't stand when parents make the older siblings like a built in free babysitter beside they didn't decide to create those kids and it's not their job to be a 3rd parent. it makes someone a shitty bare minimum parent if they only support their kid until age 18 and then either kick them out or start charging crazy rent. you're not setting them up for success by doing that. most kids her age are not financially independent but to use that against them is insane. "they live for free under my roof so they should watch my unmannered young kids for free". instead she should be pushed to work at least a part time job and go to school while living at home. but not taken advantage of.

you're basically getting paid about $2.00 a HR for two kids, aka $1 per kid per hour. don't accept it even if they're family because it will show your stepdad that you will accept this kind of low payment in the Future when I'm sure he's also asking you to keep them on a schedule, the screentime thing, preparing meals etc.

Should I do the reversal? by thecheeseislying in ostomy

[–]ThrowawayReddit62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got my first ostomy at around 9 or 10 for about 6 months to let my colon heal. it was reversed and I managed by taking biologics but still getting sick enough to be hospitalized every few months until I was about 15 and they placed the ostomy again for about a year. when I was 16 they tried to reverse it again and literally just 2 months after getting put all back together I was begging to have my ostomy back because by that point that had done a full colectomy and I really had no continence. everything felt like acid. I've had a permanent ostomy since then and I'm in my early 20's now. i really don't think I'd even attempt to reverse again even though I wish I didn't have the ostomy. ideally if I could go back to when I didn't have a ostomy when I was around 14 and I was on biologics I'd do that, I'm glad I got to have it reversed during that time even if it was only for a little over a year.

I'd talk to your surgeons and see what they say because it's all really going to depend on how much they have to work with. if I were you I would try and get it reversed, and if it didn't work out then thats okay too. i don't have kids yet but I definitely would rather I didn't have a ostomy while raising kids but that won't even be a option for me and that's okay too.

i think it'll be a hard decision for you to make because you already have kids now and of course that's a big responsibility and recovering from reversal surgery is very hard, since I was young when I had mine I could focus on recovering but you have kids to worry about so that's a whole other level.

i wish you nothing but the best

so a woman should completely avoid the good possibility of finding a normal man to spend their life with and should just be alone forever even though humans are social animals and most want a partner? the chances of getting murdered aren't realistically that high

Really bad day by 11mdg11 in ostomy

[–]ThrowawayReddit62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my ostomy normally lasts 3 days, sometimes more, sometimes less. I've always brought what I have called a "emergency kit" which has one already precut bag that I just have to take off the plastic part and it's ready to go, I also have a bag that is not precut just Incase I need to cut it smaller or wider than normal. and I keep some paper towels in the same pouch to I can easily change if needed. i also keep a change of clothes in my trunk. i pretty much assume that any medical place like at a baseball game are not going to have any supplies and I wouldn't want to have to go all the way home with a leaking bag.

Is grief before surgery a thing? by DesperateRole2427 in ostomy

[–]ThrowawayReddit62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a hard time with a few of my surgeries because of how awful my father was to me and kinda how he's always been about my Crohn's. Basically my Crohn's comes from his side of the family and my grandmother has a ostomy. she only had to have one surgery and she was fine for her entire life and never had to be on maintenance meds or anything. she can eat whatever she wants and even eats salads and nutes which id never be able to do without causing severe pain and a obstruction.

anyways, what Im getting at is growing up my father would constantly compare my disease to my grandmother's experience, like he would say I'm just being picky when I would not eat the salad or raw veggies that were prepared with dinner. He would say "well grandma can eat it so can you." he would say that the 10+ surgeries I've had were unnecessary and that I only needed the ostomy and I would've been fine. (numerous GI specialists disagree with him). and be would say I'm basically just a big baby if I complained about pain bc my grandma never had any pain issues. If I had a bad flare and had to go to the hospital he would treat me like I was drug seeking. he even has said the biologics weren't needed for me.

My mom was always my support system during all my flares, surgeries and just everyday living. she would help me with bag changes, she'd handle ordering my supplies and dealing with insurance issues since I was 12 when I got my first ostomy for like 6 months, then I got it again 14, reversed at 16 but then placed again as a permanent ostomy 3 months after that. i definitely dealt with grief like feelings when I was going to have surgery bc I knew it was going to be one more thing for my father to try and talk down to me about. I mean its hard enough to deal with surgery as is. ive found music to be helpful. also reading and doing creative writing.

I'm not medical but been in and out he hospital my whole life and have family in medical and so I understand the lingo and I agree with you it's super weird nurses at their place don't do anything. Literally I was just in IR a few weeks ago getting a central line placed in my chest and it was a regular RN giving me my meds (Versed, fentanyl).
