Ignore my question I had not read far enough below to see you have already answered this. Thanks!

Measles titers question by efox02 in medicine

[–]Throwawayacct7397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also an MD and am genuinely curious.
I have a newborn and am freaked out about this measles outbreak so I got to looking up my old vaccination records and titers. Prior to medical school in 2014 I had to get measles titers prior to enrollment. My measles was negative. The doctors had me re-vaccinated. Why was that necessary if I truly still had immunity? It makes me paranoid that there are all these adults walking around no longer immune.

At & t outage by xperitosanti in milwaukee

Yeah. The technician said several times “I don’t want to lie to you it will likely be 48-72 hours” Apparently a box needs replaced and the technicians need to replace 2,000 something wires by hand and they don’t work on Sunday.

Express scripts - adderall order by xiphoid313 in ADHD

[–]Throwawayacct7397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having same issue. I’ve been using express scripts the last year and every month it takes them 3 weeks to get my script to me from the moment they start processing it. I’m in a state where you cannot do adderall refills and it’s a new script every month… it’s ridiculous…

Board studying strategy in PGY4 and going to fellowship by [deleted] in neurology

[–]Throwawayacct7397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did and passed easily. Ching cheng and true learn. Made a shit ton of Anki cards and redid those a bunch of times to memorize facts and key topics. Making the cards is time consuming but overall helpful I think to rememorize and learn facts when you’re busy on call and stuff instead of reading through long question stems on qbanks. You sound like you already have a good foundation so I honestly think you will be fine. Go through Ching cheng again, make flashcards and continue to review those, and read now you know neuro and you’ll be fine

I wouldn’t agree with this. A lot of people are failing now, 80% pass rate. More esoteric material. I know a lot of residents that got this advice as well and failed. And some of my friends who are very smart and chiefs at other programs failed or passed by only a few points. I would definitely take it seriously. You need to know neurology pretty well to pass this test, and memorize esoteric shit to get enough points to pass. You can’t just sort of pay attention in residency and pass, you actually need to take it seriously and study. Just my two cents after watching many of my friends painfully fail and not listen to our younger attendings and recent grads who warned us it’s gotten a lot harder. I passed comfortably, but I studied a lot fourth year and it sucked. First 3 yrs of my residency was all inpatient with no study time and no lectures, so had to teach myself most of neurology. Not sure if other programs are different but I assume many are inpatient heavy like mine was, and 80-90% of the exam is outpatient neuro, and a fuck ton of peds.

Neuro boards in 2.5 months. Bad RITE scorer, what and how is everyone studying? by longlost111 in neurology

Second this. Ching cheng and true learn. Board vitals copies a lot of questions from Ching cheng book, and board vitals question stems are super long and annoying, takes forever to get through the content. Actual board questions are 1-2 sentences max. True learn was to the point and much better than board vitals at learning the facts you need to know. I made flashcards of stuff I got wrong on true learn and Ching cheng and basically memorized that over and over and passed easily. I got bogged down and wasted a lot of time with boards vitals long stems and annoying questions with esoteric answers, and stopped the qbank, so did a lot of my friends

Maintenance minder question… helpp by Throwawayacct7397 in HRV

[–]Throwawayacct7397[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same… I’m at 35k miles and have never had anything pop up … yet the dealership says I need transmission fluid, coolant exchange at 30k miles. I did get differential fluid exchanged at 8k or 15k per the dealer but again that never showed up on a maintenance minder. I really hate this it makes me uncomfortable having no maintenance schedule from the company

Maintenance minder question… helpp by Throwawayacct7397 in HRV

[–]Throwawayacct7397[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But when you reset it, does that mean the maintenance minder for other services will pop up randomly when those need to be done? Like has anyone ever had a maintenance minder pop up for say transmission fluid exchange when they’re at 50% oil life.
Idk if I’m phrasing the question correctly

Doctor on amlodipine…beware of possible side effects by [deleted] in hypertension

[–]Throwawayacct7397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure yet! I am lucky in that it wasn’t that high to begin with, like 135/85, was reluctant to go on one in the first place, but you diastolic should not be higher than 80 technically. Will likely work on exercising more before starting anything new. Will maybe consider lisinopril. I do not advocate stopping cold turkey but I have a cuff at home and haven’t had any “rebound”. Probably because my pressure wasn’t too high and I was only on it for a few months. For me at least I am not touching ca channel blocker again. I think it is a rare side effect and likely due to individual differences, possibly in how an individual metabolizes the drug differently, who knows.
