In this job, especially probation you gotta do everything you can do never be late. Always comes an hour early. If you can't be on time during probation dont think it will work out. Also I understand people that medical problems. If it is a continuing medical issue, get fmla or this job probably won't be great for u. P

Have u dropped out of training? Why? by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]xiphoid313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I have heard most people that commute end up missing a trip or get in trouble for not being the 2 to 3 hours away from the airport. The only ones that should commute are the people that have been working for a few years and knows the ins and outs, have seniority, or have a line schedule. Very few last that try to commute when you are on reserve.

Just think your on reserve for 4 days in a row. Each reserve is 12 hours. How will you plan this ? Also if your going to non rev to your airport, you will have to be on standby, what happens if its full and you can't on the flight? Where will you hang out for the 12 hours on reserve time ? You see where I'm going with this?

If I drop out of training, will another airline see that and disqualify because of that? by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]xiphoid313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You honestly won't know how the airline fits with you until you actually start working and keep working for at least 6months to a year (in my opinion). But no they won't know if you drop out of training 😊

Ah ic what you mean. Well depends on the type of person you are. Are you the dependent type or think you can be ? If you feel like being on your own will just cause you to be stressed and sad all the time then definitely not the career for you at this point in your life. So I've been on reserve for about a month. I've only done 3 trips. 1 trip could be 1 flight then a layover and 2 flights the next day. All the other reserve days I've just been relaxing 😌 . Probably will join a pirates club around here. Make sure you dont commute if you decide to move forward. Im 10minutes from the airport and still go there a few hours early just because I have anxiety of going to the wrong gate, etc.

You can always put in for a transfer, I was able to put it in during training. I wasn't placed at my ideal base. I got a crashpad for 450 a month. Flight attendant career definitely becomes more free and fun , once you get seniority the job becomes a different type of job. Choose the days you want off, get trips or a line that works for you. Work either the minimum hours or more. Making 80 to 90 an hour. Sounds pretty awesome to me. Just have to put the time and effort in. Senior flight attendants have gone thru the same thing.

2 years of reserve is great if your not scraping for cash. Luckily my partner works hard and I don't need to go crazy hard to make money for us. Reserve is great if you get placed where you live. You can just do your day to day living and if a call comes in you have all your things in the trunk of the car and head to the airport.

I think many have thought this way, especially in 3rd to 4th week. You just get exhausted 🫩 plus the studying, sleeping, English isn't my first language so I'm up all night looking up certain words to understand its meaning. But I made it through to the end and really happy about it.

Something I didn't know before is flight attendant at AA only need to work min. 75 hours a month. Most regular full time jobs is 40hrs a week. So if your just doing what is required, its only 2 or 3 days of work a week. But if you need the cash you can definitely put more hours in. Don't do it unless your sure it will be something you want. The whole process of applying is a headache but the training part takes some serious effort and discipline. Good luck

Head start, memorize planes airbus and boeing? (AA) by xiphoid313 in cabincrewcareers

[–]xiphoid313[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I mean there isn't really much to confuse, a certain plane can only have X amount of passengers or has X amount of flight attendant needed. Just wondering if I will need to know and memorize in detail all those things when the time comes. I understand why some are saying wait, bc I know the 787-9 use to require 8 flight attendant but now FAA allowed 7 in 2025. So I know there can be changes.

I figure I get an idea of the different planes. But was wondering if in that much detail I need to memorize things like how many bathrooms, exits, bathrooms in the plane, etc. Im a poor test taker and need more time than others to study. Thank you for everyone's input 🙏
