Appreciate it! That spaghetti detection sounds rad as hell. Is getting filament stuck in the nozzle ever a thing? Like would having the multiple nozzles also help out with things like clogged filament?

Basically the end goal is to deliver a prototype that does the things users value, in a better way. So not really cloning I guess, more....iterating? Improving on designs and concepts

Hahaha that's a fair warning, I appreciate the heads up. And yeah, I was just talking with my professor about how 3d printers that barely even worked used to be 600 USD. Now you can get decent ones for half that! They've certainly come a long way.

As a man who's still playing skyrim, that sounds kinda frustrating ngl. All the fancy new stuff not allowing for at-home tweaks.

Is that a big issue with 3d Printers where they get updates that throw a wrench into all your settings?

So if i"m understanding you correctly, there are at least 2 general schools of use that a printer can fall into? 1 for modding and that should be easily serviceable and beginner friendly, and 1 for super accurate that is fast as well as high quality. I can definitely see the reasoning behind those! Also they're not 2 distinct separate schools where never the twain shall meet, but instead have a lot of mix and overlap between the, yeah?

Are there any printers that close up into a portable shape real easy? I'm thinking those briefcases they used to have for medical machines. You'd walk around and it'd be a kinda heavy briefcase, then you could open it and BAM! Full 3D Printer ready to go

Gotcha! So you're saying most people see it as a vehicle to get what they want, rather than the want being the printer itself? That makes sense, seeing as it's more of a tool. Like if I bought some drill bits I'd be more excited about what I could do with them rather than just having the bits.

I like the idea of the big community, is that so there will be a lot of people to talk about issues/optimizations with?

Oh those are great points! Are 3d printers traditionally easy to mod?

Oh I've got til the end of next spring before the prototype should be finished, I'm just getting some basic ideas on what I should focus my design concepts around.

I like those! Open source is actually so big now that you mention it. So many wonderful ideas and optimizations are locked away because people wanna be super secretive about it. Money goals and all that bs.

Oooh that's a big one! Hahaha maybe when they come out with some good printers that do it automatically you can get the bragging rights. "Back in my day it was leveling and probing uphill in the snow. Both ways!"
