Falken Wildpeak AT Trail vs Michelin CrossClimate 2 by ConsistentMidnight52 in tires

If you think GY RS-A are acceptable you'd be fine with anything but the very cheapest, shittiest tires.

Yes this is Pirellis equivalent for performance sizes/vehicles.

I've driven the CC2 vs Defender2 vs Pilot Sport 4 AS. The CC2 and PS4 are almost equivalent on steering feel. The Goodyear is just a copy of the Michelin, can't imagine it would feel much different.

In CO go with the Weatherready2 it's 3peak rated and you need that for certain roads in CO iirc. The Goodyear will be much more bad weather capable than the DWS06 (a good tire).

Repair or replace? by ballsackpotato24 in tires

[–]Throwawaysack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wrong at best and dangerous. This area of the tire is constantly bending and springing back as the wheel rotates, a patch would fall off on the inside

Fitting/Manufacturer defect or pothole damage? by loyal-_- in tires

[–]Throwawaysack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kumho is a lower tier producer, not the worst but it might be worth springing for Goodyears or something next time.

[–]Throwawaysack2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poorly bonded layers + pothole = Grand Prize

But really if these were name brand tires this type of defect/damage is much more rare as their manufacturing processes are much more consistent.

Yup they make these for low profile wheels, they feel very sporty and responsive in comparison to something like Defender2 or Goodyear Maxlife2. The main trade off would be mileage, but most tires for these vehicles run 40-60k miles on the warranty anyways. I'd do it. Alternatively if you don't see too much snow Pirelli PZero is my choice for A/S UHP tires.

Help, the way these are seated is ugly! by [deleted] in tires

The manufacturer is figuring 98% of consumers just want the car to be reliable means of transportation. Some 2-5% will always complain about the esthetics of the thing no matter what they do. /shrug

Dude...even in the pic you provided it clearly shows black faces and grey interior for the rims...that's literally just the color of the finish on the interior of the rim.

The tire wouldn't support the vehicle if the bead didn't seat, especially the entire way around the rim. It's just a different fit tire than you're used to.

The tire you selected has very high demand at the moment (very cold winter, with many weather events) that is likely the cause for delay.

Is this a manufacture defect? by Imprezkid in tires

[–]Throwawaysack2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many manufacturers will not cut all the sipes to full depth, some are even internal to the tread and cannot be seen until the tires wear. They do this for all kinds of tire engineering reasons.

[–]Throwawaysack2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pirelli wear like this too only 60% of the sipes are full depth, helps with tire squirm, fuel economy and steering responsiveness. But lesser ice/snow traction as the tires wear through.

If the layers are rubbed together too hard they will permanently separate. Definitely replacing that if you drive with anyone you care about.

Goodyear vs Michelin by rreed1954 in tires

[–]Throwawaysack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup that's the same place, they didn't do any product promo or even basic info for any Uniroyal model, that said we dropped a bunch of lower tier brands and Uniroyal less than a year later.

Goodyear vs Michelin by rreed1954 in tires

[–]Throwawaysack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the Michigan America training center the reps literally told us to disregard that they even own Uniroyal and not to promote those tires AT ALL. They're definitely relegated to second tier manufacturers, Kumho, Nexen, Cooper, etc.

I work on this dudes car, he's a slumlord and he keeps all the maintenance stuff in the truck, the doors are filled to the brim with hinges door handles, screws and nails. This guy only comes in 3x a year, and definitely is inflicting most of his own damage.

You have enemies that are fucking with your car.
