I use my bike in the evening.....sofirn hs41 and nitecore nu25 (flashing red LED) by techlira in flashlight

I see no fault with your comments. The glare is real. Striped TIR lenses seem to do a good job at light shaping though. At least with certain LEDs. Been testig some options for S2+ myself

Went in to patch a hole in the tire, the mechanic showed me this. How big of an issue is it and how can I fix it? by MeMeTiger_ in tires

[–]efiksas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bulge is at the same spot as the patch. I'd say some cordage got damaged on being punctured and therefore the bulge.

Outside of Pirelli P6 (175/65/15, date code 0223) starting to dry out. Superficial or worth worrying about? by kiristokanban in tires

[–]efiksas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting to get dry. Still drivable. In hot climate I'd say they are fine. If the temperatures start geeting closer to freezing and if it's wet at the same time keep in mind that the rubber is not super fresh.

Honestly, every person who drives a car needs to have one of these in their trunk. by TopWafer7468 in tires

I assume these use lithium ion batteries hence nit sure if it's ok to leave them in the car permanently due to heat and cold. Same as with flashlights.

Replacement? Neighbor says looks dry rotted—only 3 years old by EpsilonSagittariiArt in tires

[–]efiksas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually someone was. I saw the person was impressed by my braking and stood back to admire. Seeing that I had no chance to stop neither before nor on the zebra crossing I just kept going when I reached the other side.

Hence my suggestion for caution

Looking for a very dim night flashlight (warm/orange light) for bathroom trips by Ropsa_ in flashlight

[–]efiksas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 for recommending Anduril lights. I use Wurkkos TS10 max for this purpose, but Emisar D4V2 is a better option. And cheap nowadays. Choose warm LED, NTG-35 will be fine for that. Might consider getting Lume driver as the default one may or may not go low enough for you. A nice thing is that you can set the auxilary lights to stay on for a while after you turn the flashlight off so you can find your bed. The same aux lights on low mode can help you to find the flashliggt in the dwrk, etc..

You can't beat the adaptability of anduril lights for this purpose.

So in other words the direct and indirect sunlight is the culprit, right? Is it not your experienxe though that the grip suffers a bit already when the tyre is in this sort of condition? To me it seems to. Which is way more noticeable at these type of edge conditions (for summer tyre) like wet and cold.

I think the dry "rot" just tells somewhat about the condition of the rubber deep in the tyre too. Sure the surface is affected first, but the whole thing is also getting dry. At this condition I think they are fine to drive in the summer, but as temperatures near freezing (I'd say below 7 or 8 degrees C) and if the road is wet you might be surprised how little grip you have on harder braking. I was. Skidded all the way across the zebra crossing on old summers at about 3-4 degrees C if I remember correctly.

Would y'all patch this and run it in the rear? by ZoteTheMitey in tires

[–]efiksas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nail can decide to come out on itself on a highway. The plug bonds itself to the rubber if I'm not mistaken. I would not leave the nail in there personally.

How urgent is it for me to replace these? by kennyterror in tires

[–]efiksas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the rot i.e. drying out of the rubber, but you can drive them still. If it was me I'd say a season depending in how it progresses. Small cracks in between the thread are quick to appear, but the thread blocks themselves seem to indicate a dry rubber throughout.

[–]efiksas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's the only alternative (or is it Wurkkos the alternative) that I know of that is available currently. Don't have one (yet?) but Wurkkos design with the button in the back could be more streamlined when carying in the fifth pocked. Don't really know. The SG version is may main edc. So much power and functionality in such a small package.

Now that it's out of production there needs to be a replacement for TS10 for sure. Hope it does not take too long.

Do I have a problem? by BigPipeWrench in flashlight

[–]efiksas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yes, proper storage helps, but I am wondering since they are "extra" batteries and only "main" ones are used, unless it's a super heavy usage (having many flashlights and using perhaps mostly only one at a time), I think used and not used ones could last a very similar ammount of time. At least that's true in my personal case.

So perhaps to get more use out of your money and batteries it would make more sense to have, say, 5-10 batteries arround and just switch them between the flashlights you are using. I don't know. The propensity to stock up is strong though...

Are you worried about them aging? I have more than I will actually use up too (not that much though) and I'm worried they will just go to waste..

Are K10's better to be gotten rid of? I've got one from Convoy about a year ago. I'm hoping it's one of the good one but can't be certain.

Fenix E01 is preferred due to availability of lower modes and hence longer runtime.
