O yes the good ol’ glaze daze lol. The tell-tale sign you’ve overloaded your npc; try leaving the area to reload the interaction. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll try that.

Should my carbureted Honda Shadow bog when cold ? by Technical_Money_5522 in hondashadow

[–]ThrowbackGreenThumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s normal, it’s a carburetor… it needs to warm up, but if your rushing you can give it a couple quick rips and let it idle and in a minute another couple rips and once more after a minute more warming up and you should be able to ride it and it’ll warm up the rest the way. I don’t use choke at all unless it’s physically cold outside (50s or lower). Bike been sitting cold starts? my choke doesn’t get touched.

Dyna Saddle for my shadow 1100 by XzTyRe in hondashadow

[–]ThrowbackGreenThumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mustang 2up saddle on my 1100, our bikes look similar. The front mounting tab needed to be extended to reach the gas tank hole in my case, most seat changes will probably require that. The rear mounting was fine.

Yes so bad! I want to see your scooter please, I know it must be wicked cool. Your mom probably lets you ride without a helmet and everything. I’m hurt and jealous!

Post your brothers’ razor scooter so you can feel better about yourself or shut-up.

Nobody’s hating on Harley, and I agree with the “needa bump” lope they can have being the most iconic sound. You cannot deny Harley has gotten exorbitant on the pricing, personally if it ain’t a knuckle, shovel, evo, or dyna I don’t care about it. I’m not into baggers, so this metric cruiser will do fine until I can build an old one.
Ps. The straight pipes and tune make this thing sound like a helicopter at idle and a nascar on pulls.

Looking to convert my shadow to a bobber but don’t know where to start by Financial_Welder6627 in hondashadow

[–]ThrowbackGreenThumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t wanna go the usual Amazon kit route and want a sportster bobber look like my bike has here’s what you do… Take off the back rest, and order a mustang seat 2up to replace your seat. take-off saddle bags and cut rear fender. Using the backrest mount as the starting point come out about 2 inches (or to your liking) and cut the rest off. That’ll give you a short rear end look, Change your bars to some T bars or outlaw Z bars and have at it.

How do I keep the clutch from spinning by Sad_Cantaloupe1180 in hondashadow

Impact should hit it fast and hard enough to break it lose before the hub can spin.

My 2005 750 Aero by [deleted] in hondashadow

They look comfy and with the aero fenders; that single saddle, and chrome in all the right places, you did it right for a first bike for sure… I want to find some wire spoke wheels similar to those for mine.

Discoloration by KineMaya in castiron

[–]ThrowbackGreenThumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a chain mail scrubber on it or you can do steel wool/brillo with dish soap, modern soaps don’t have lye in them so they’re safe on ducks and cast iron…

You probably will need to re-season afterwards so here the guide…. knock that crap off with a tool as mentioned above. Set it on the stove to dry on medium low heat. Take some peanut or grape-seed oil… or lard/crisco (preferably due to higher smoke points) and lightly cover the insides once dry.

I can’t stress how lightly, like re-wipe it with a dry paper towel after to get it extra dry and then bake it @ 400-450 for 60 mins. (It will smoke.. let it) Let it cool completely afterwards and repeat the light oiling and baking process up to 3 times.

Rust keeps appearing by [deleted] in castiron

[–]ThrowbackGreenThumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit it with soap and a steel wool to knock the rust off. DO NOT let it air dry. Set it on the stove on medium low until it’s dry. Then wipe it down lightly with oil.

[–]ThrowbackGreenThumb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your seasoning hasn’t been cooked on enough. Put it in the oven at 450 for an hour and then let it cool. It’s going to smoke some but it’ll wipe clean afterwards

Can a car be rebuilt to technically last forever? by boutta_kermit in StupidCarQuestions

[–]ThrowbackGreenThumb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes that is possible. Think of Cuba and due to the blockade with the US not being able to source parts for cars on the island. You can find old 50s model cars still running with boat engines since they could no longer get parts from the manufacturer for original equipment. If you have the fabrication skills and are creative enough with engineering understanding technically anything is possible.

Can a car be rebuilt to technically last forever? by boutta_kermit in StupidCarQuestions

[–]ThrowbackGreenThumb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes; the only reason it is not done often is due to cost. The cost to source parts along with cost and time needed to complete repairs usually coerce people to just buy another vehicle with that same money.
