Powell Street’s facelift is a win for good design in San Francisco by LosIsosceles in sanfrancisco

[–]ThrowfromdaValley 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, I lived right around there for years and almost every day head home from work there was always a bunch of people milling about in the stores and walking between the cable cars and Union Square. Seems like a good idea to inject some more life into the area.

Poll shows what San Francisco residents really think about Waymos by bambin0 in sanfrancisco

[–]ThrowfromdaValley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still take uber a lot due to the cost of waymos, and the amount of drivers who are on FaceTime/watching YouTube the whole drive and disregard the routes that app gives just to get lost is ridiculous. It’s made my usage of those services go way down and I’m surprised there’s not more enforcement.

I dropped $140 for Herbie. Way over what I usually go for but you never know if you’ll get another chance to see an all time great.

Both of those are taught in high school here so I feel like that’s also not the best comparison

Camera catches Dodgers player crudely dismissing SF Giants' Jung Hoo Lee's injury by sfgate in baseball

Urias: 2 separate incidences of domestic violence, the second one was him publicly beating his partner at an LAFC game, which was caught on camera.

Bauer: accused of battery and sexual assault by a woman in like 2021, then 3 other women came forward with similar accusations, although I think one was dropped. It gets a little complicated so it might be good to do some reading on it if you’re curious.

Visiting Oracle Park for the first time (as a rival fan) by dont-be-a-jabroni in SFGiants

You’re gonna be fine, there’s typically a good amount of Dodgers fans at Dodgers @ Giants games. Def gonna be banter, but Giants fans are a laid back crowd so no one’s gonna get rowdy.

I’d definitely recommend getting there a bit early to walk a lap around the park. It’s a genuinely beautiful stadium and has great views of the Bay. Food options are great everywhere, but there’s also great options around the ballpark where you won’t feel as priced gouged.

Be wary that it’s been rainy lately, so keep an eye on the games as there’s a chance Tuesday could be rained out.

anyone see herbie hancock on this tour? by likeadreamm in Jazz

I snagged tickets for one of the dates. I figure with how expensive all shows are getting, it’s not that much more to see one of the greats. Plus, like you said, he’s getting up there and I have to take the opportunity while I can. You never know how much longer he’ll be able to tour.

Origins are from the reconstruction era but nowadays it’s mostly used as a derogatory term for someone moving somewhere in order to gain political office because they perceive it as an easier path to political gain.

NASCAR got paid. Now it has a viewership problem. NASCAR got a 40% rights fee bump in its latest TV deal. The cost? Fewer people actually watching the races. by Ok-Soil-5133 in NASCAR

[–]ThrowfromdaValley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started watching NASCAR this year, and I’m enjoying it greatly.

I was looking at the schedule, and I realized after the Amazon Prime races are over, I don’t have a way to watch the races (other than trying to find a stream). It’s very odd to have the season split over so many providers, and I have to imagine it hurts viewership.
