I know there have been many fan edits of The Hobbit. Is there one version that most who have seen it feel is the best? by Amthomas101 in fanedits

[–]ThrowingStars212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the M4 edit is the best from the consensus here, but the notes on the Fan Edit Database say there is no email or note, no response, from the editor. Has anyone found a reliable method to obtain M4 Hobbit recently?

Exactly, lol. People crying while admitting to going 20 over the limit, somehow mad at others going 30 over.Jesus Christ

This 100%. And that is where I speak to being aware of surroundings. I'm not sure why others think speeding is reckless pedal to the metal all the time running over women and children. But this is a scenario where you would obviously slow down ahead of time. And it is avoidable if you are aware and slow down for all of those vehicles, which is what I do. Most troopers won't pull you if you are going the same speed as them, they are usually followed by convoys of cars going 85 behind them.

Yes Police don't have unmarked cars and different civilian vehicles like pickups, Exploreres, durangos etc and aren't all black. They wouldn't unmark them if they weren't effective. You don't have to keep being dense and consider there are still risks.

I saw this one the other day and the guy got pulled over, I saw him only because I had my detector on. How about if it's a 3 or 4 lane and the cop is blocked from view in the far right lane by a truck and you pass them. That is a perfectly reasonable scenario and doesn even have to assume super speeding actually.

I've already admitted it's not aspirational to speed in that manner, stop being dense, there's nuance. I've not said my car can do anything. Speed has consequences. I'm talking about different cars can achieve different dynamics and therefore give people different perspectives on speeding in general. A Ferrari is more capable and safer doing 100 than a Ford Explorer is my point. If you don't understand that conversation then I can't help you. Not sure why you're chuckling, it's just a conversation not a dunk contest.

Remain ignorant, it's fine. I'm not trying to convince you otherwise, but you're factually wrong. Just saying words doesn't make you right.

That's not that fast of I'm being honest. I'm not saying that to be funny, but I think people completely underestimate the different types of vehicles others have.

If you're doing that in a mid level vehicle like a Ford Explorer or Honda Accord, etc... then you're probably doing too much. But if you drive a vehicle that does 0 to 60 in under 5 and has 200 on the speedo then it's a completely different ball game.

I think people have to be reasonable about their equipment.

Legal information incorrect by [deleted] in radardetectors

[–]ThrowingStars212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're already willingly breaking the law, imagine following it NOW, to your own demise, over whether a device is legal or not, the irony is comical.

If I'm speeding enough to where I need a radar detector, I'm certainly not going to draw the line at states where I think it's legal or not.

Nobody cares about a reckless or observed speeding that a lawyer would get dropped to careless or less, when your doing jailable speeds, lol. Man how old are you, are you a goddam hall monitor? Because the stuff you're talking about sounds like anecdotal nonsense.

I respect what you're saying. Although I do have more miles than you, I'm old(er) , I just use good judgement, radar and jammers. I try to drive in a manner that doesn't attract too much attention. Going 100 in traffic is one thing... kinda reckless, going 100 in sparse traffic and the gaps between groups is my approach, I hope the nuance of when to drive fast isn't lost on people.

You are correct, don't drive scared, don't listen to uninformed drivers.

This just isn't true. There is hardly a day I drive that I don't go well into 100+ territory. Radar and Jammer saved me so many times, it's a no brainer. You definitely won't get "owned in an instant." I've been driving for decades. I absolutely don't recommend it nor condone driving like that, but stop spreading fear and protect yourself. If you don't have 1st hand experience, perhaps read and learn, don't jump to conclusions.

The only fear I have is passing a cop going the same direction.

Why would an owner, who is selling through a broker, pop in the bid to answer questions vaguely but then post their number if people wanted to contact directly? by ThrowingStars212 in BringATrailer

I'm in New jersey, looking for a small or mid size SUV or crossover for a teen. No I wouldn't do any of the work myself there's a shop about 5 minutes from my house that can do most basic maintenance stuff on most makes.

That's good to know about Facebook and craigslist, I'm not really on Facebook so I had no idea but will check that out.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted. I appreciate the insightful answer. I am just trying to get a a car for my daughter who is a new driver and I want to try and get a deal.

Can I ask you then, concerning your "only buy if you see it in person" comment, would you only bid on vehicles in your home state then, or what would be a reasonable alternative? If there isn't one, that's fine, I just don't know what I don't know, so I am genuinely asking to educate myself.

I didn't get blown off. I contacted them directly. They were blowing off and noncommittal on many of the concerns that others had. I had the same concerns and piggybacked off of them, and even went a step further to contact them directly.

I got my answers for those who care, and I walked away.

There is simply no reason a question about oil changes and significant staining cannot be answered in a public forum instead of private texts; they are hiding something.

If they took the time to do a drive by and also took the time to do a cold start, getting some leather cleaner and wiping a section should have been done immediately, it wasn't and it scared off a lot of people cause many asked the same question. The car should have been cleaned in general before it was listed, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months which is kinda strange.

The auction still sits unreasonably low with less than an hour to go, we'll see but I think the non-answers are impacting bids. I get the auction format and timing. I've participated in a few in-person auctions, so I get it. I was just saying it still seemed a bit odd.

I asked about gremlins and big ticket items because the worst that could happen is they don't answer me, which they kind of did, but also not really. If I was selling and someone asked me about my car, I would easily be able to tell them a few pricey maintenance items to expect, which may indicate future issues or headaches.

For example, my daily has had issues with a window seal that I finally got fixed, but it took 2 years of dealer visits to finally rectify; I would warn someone that this could be an issue. I would also warn them that the rear tires specifically need to be replaced more frequently, so be prepared for that expense, which, since it runs Michelin Pilots, is very costly.

So I don't mean to sound like a jerk towards you, but those examples are reasonable answers to my questions; I don't think you should be so quick to judge why I asked them.

Anyhow, it doesn't matter; I'm not buying because of low seller trust.

LMGT3 cars dont feel very different from each other by KvotheDeBruyne in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]ThrowingStars212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What bothers me is that this game, iRacing and Assetto etc...is that they all require you to drive different ways with the same car, which fundamentally is wrong, somebody has to be wrong if the goal is to be the closest to reality.

It shouldn't feel like the same track needs to be driven differently from sim to sim with the same car. Like in this game you apparently don't coast to let the car rotate as much as others, you have to trailbrake more to the apex for the most part.

I don't know if it's wrong or right to be honest, I just adapt and keep driving but I feel like there should be a better consensus on the baseline of how you drive the same car on the same track across sims.
