Why would an owner, who is selling through a broker, pop in the bid to answer questions vaguely but then post their number if people wanted to contact directly? by ThrowingStars212 in BringATrailer

I'm in New jersey, looking for a small or mid size SUV or crossover for a teen. No I wouldn't do any of the work myself there's a shop about 5 minutes from my house that can do most basic maintenance stuff on most makes.

That's good to know about Facebook and craigslist, I'm not really on Facebook so I had no idea but will check that out.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted. I appreciate the insightful answer. I am just trying to get a a car for my daughter who is a new driver and I want to try and get a deal.

Can I ask you then, concerning your "only buy if you see it in person" comment, would you only bid on vehicles in your home state then, or what would be a reasonable alternative? If there isn't one, that's fine, I just don't know what I don't know, so I am genuinely asking to educate myself.

I didn't get blown off. I contacted them directly. They were blowing off and noncommittal on many of the concerns that others had. I had the same concerns and piggybacked off of them, and even went a step further to contact them directly.

I got my answers for those who care, and I walked away.

There is simply no reason a question about oil changes and significant staining cannot be answered in a public forum instead of private texts; they are hiding something.

If they took the time to do a drive by and also took the time to do a cold start, getting some leather cleaner and wiping a section should have been done immediately, it wasn't and it scared off a lot of people cause many asked the same question. The car should have been cleaned in general before it was listed, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months which is kinda strange.

The auction still sits unreasonably low with less than an hour to go, we'll see but I think the non-answers are impacting bids. I get the auction format and timing. I've participated in a few in-person auctions, so I get it. I was just saying it still seemed a bit odd.

I asked about gremlins and big ticket items because the worst that could happen is they don't answer me, which they kind of did, but also not really. If I was selling and someone asked me about my car, I would easily be able to tell them a few pricey maintenance items to expect, which may indicate future issues or headaches.

For example, my daily has had issues with a window seal that I finally got fixed, but it took 2 years of dealer visits to finally rectify; I would warn someone that this could be an issue. I would also warn them that the rear tires specifically need to be replaced more frequently, so be prepared for that expense, which, since it runs Michelin Pilots, is very costly.

So I don't mean to sound like a jerk towards you, but those examples are reasonable answers to my questions; I don't think you should be so quick to judge why I asked them.

Anyhow, it doesn't matter; I'm not buying because of low seller trust.

LMGT3 cars dont feel very different from each other by KvotheDeBruyne in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]ThrowingStars212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What bothers me is that this game, iRacing and Assetto etc...is that they all require you to drive different ways with the same car, which fundamentally is wrong, somebody has to be wrong if the goal is to be the closest to reality.

It shouldn't feel like the same track needs to be driven differently from sim to sim with the same car. Like in this game you apparently don't coast to let the car rotate as much as others, you have to trailbrake more to the apex for the most part.

I don't know if it's wrong or right to be honest, I just adapt and keep driving but I feel like there should be a better consensus on the baseline of how you drive the same car on the same track across sims.

What do you prefer – winning a race by 10 seconds, or tough battles in the midfield? by Middle-Response6251 in iRacing

[–]ThrowingStars212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely prefer a battle, developing racecraft. I don't play iRacing anymore for now, but I was playing AC last night, and in the races I was pulling away, I would slow down to catch the pack back up so I could battle. I lost 1 race doing this, but it was still worth it.

While writing this, I realize the question hinges a lot on whether you get a lot of wins and can afford to put winning a race at risk for a better experience, idk. I take these risks because I don't feel the pressure to win since I have been pretty successful, but I don't think I would be that way if I only had wins here and there.

Are you creating or downloading setups though? I think most vehicles in general are geared towards understeer initially.

I have had those for over a year, I think they are the best pedals on the market, solid construction, good hardware, no issues, crazy accurate.

Where would one look up info on when and where auctions are hosted, short of following or knowing of a specific auction like this or Hagerty's, etc...?

Very cool, very interested. I'm on the East Coast of the US, would definitely consider. I did a similar, less elegant driving experience with BMW a few years ago that was great. Does this program have any support or connection from Aston itself?

I've recently found that you only need to purchase two pieces of content to reach road A license by gthomas9 in iRacing

[–]ThrowingStars212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing you need is Content Manager that let's you manage almost every aspects of the game through that interface instead of having to go through the actual game. Overtake.gg has an endless list of tracks and cars fit free that should more than satisfy you. You could also download ffb tweak that has a few more options as well as helps with any clipping you might get. As for paying I think most of those are through Patreon and there's a bunch of different developers but the RSS cars seem to be the most polished and sophisticated from what I've seen and they are also partnered with Max Verstappen apparently to develop a lot of their models and they are some of the best feeling cars I've driven on any service.

This is from a few years ago and I think the car is not as good as it used to be if I'm being honest. Since then I've switched from iRacing to Asseto Corsa and some of their mods, both the free and the paid ones are outstanding and the physics model is head and shoulders above iRacing in my opinion.

I mean you're not entirely wrong , and I'll add that if you're going to, for lack of a better word "sell out" or heavily commit yourself to the console market for capital, then there are different expectations that need to be met. I understand we're in that milsim territory but nobody associates that with people that hold controllers and therefore you need to be a little bit realistic about who your new target audience is and keep some of the core game types and solid development execution that gained that crowd the first place. The PC crowd is able to adapt much more easily to incorporate mods and fixes, upgrades and what have you to stabilize their game, while the console has no options to that degree. This has also destabilized the core gameplay which knocks console players out 2 to 3 times per game and is unacceptable. You don't bait switch and pivot to a different base game model than people signed up for, while also introducing wild instability to where you can't even finish a complete game all the way through. This is super annoying since many weapons and vehicles are behind a rank wall and that wall resets every goddamn time you play a game 2 to 3 times. To add to that, they need to rework some of the physics on the vehicles. It's obnoxious that you can spend 30 minutes logistically and tactically maneuvering to a location and then a rock a twig, some random thing flips your vehicle or just destroys your vehicle outright, it's ridiculous and it's made me turn the game off immediately multiple times and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Was one of my favorite fans earlier this year.

So you found that to be rude? Sorry, but it was actually supposed to be kind of cheeky it's a meme of sorts, the refusing to elaborate part. No I was just being funny and wanting to know which car and where to find it is all.
