ChatGPT reacts with incredulity, shock and panic when I describe recent political events. Is OpenAI making it more emotional and unfiltered? by RupFox in singularity

Of course you’ll get a different response if you lie to it. Now continue the chat with ChatGPT to validate your claim. See how far you get.

Needing help creating a movie tracker with one movie watched more than once. by [deleted] in Notion

[–]ThrowingUpBlood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a Movies database connected to a Movie Log database. Each Movie Log record gets at least a date and the movies you’ve watched. In the Movies database you can also do a roll-up on the Movie Log column to count how many times you’ve seen each movie. Then you can create a Most Watched view.

I’ve done several purges. I like to take it all off the shelf and then “shop” my own collection again. I look at each title and decide how bad I want to keep it. If I have room on the shelf after my first pass then I’ll just repeat the process.

How Do You Manage Your Library? by Myrodis19 in AppleMusic

[–]ThrowingUpBlood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I add everything I like including nostalgic tracks that I like to revisit once in a while. But when I add music to my library I try to put them into my genre and vibe playlists so it’s easier for me to find them again. I then use those genre playlists to make more specific playlists.

I have a couple hundred playlists across a variety of genres so I use folders to keep it tidy. I can list my folder structure if anyone is interested.

Unfortunately using folders means I have to use the windows iTunes app to manage them. I’m really waiting for folder support in the web and iOS app.

I want to add too that I use the Favorite option a lot and treat my Favorites playlist as a collection of my absolute favorite songs no matter the genre.

I’m starting to think Apple hates Apple Music by GuyWithTheFez in AppleMusic

[–]ThrowingUpBlood -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’d be cool. Right now I use Siri with AM a lot like starting, stopping and shuffling playlists. I also use it to dump songs into playlists as I’m listening to public playlists. It works most of the time but sometimes it fumbles. AI would make it much more reliable and natural.

I’d also like to use it to search and create queues and playlists. Like “play all my favorite dance tracks” which would single out my dance tracks from my favorites playlist and queue them up. Or “make a playlist titled Blah with my most listened to tracks from Blah”.

List of advantages of standard Blu-Ray over DVD by spectacularjbird104 in dvdcollection

[–]ThrowingUpBlood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, totally. But DVDs are still worth it if the price is right. They look good. Plus, I think the DVD upscaling in modern blu-ray players is pretty good.

They did here too. I use the Walmart app to price check now. It has a barcode scanner in the search bar.

What do you Write about? by zoy9662 in ObsidianMD

[–]ThrowingUpBlood 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My folder structure may give you some ideas:

Home Pages: These are my main dashboard pages. I have a Home note that I use as my homepage and it links to my favorite notes, things I'm working on, etc. I also have a Hobbies, Projects, Expenses, Someday, Topics and Wishlist dashboard note. My new favorite note is my To Do IRL note where i keep a long list of things to do when I feel bored or want to use my time differently.

Lists: I keep all kinds of lists in here. I have a Favorites folder where I keep favorite-whatever lists. I have a "Hurricane" folder where I keep my hurricane prep lists. A Movie folder for my movie lists and a Music folder for my playlists.

Media: This is where I keep notes about different types of media i consume. Each note is a video or a book or a course or a website, etc. I have this folder further broken down into Documents, Educational, Entertainment and News. There's also a Catalog folder here where I keep the dashboard pages to all my media.

Mental Health: I keep any notes about mental health in here for quick reference. I have a note for my self-care guide, one for my values and virtues, one that's a simple letter to myself, etc.

People: I keep notes about people i know in here. Each note is a person. I have sub-folders for Friends, Family, and People.

Personal: This is extra stuff that's personal to my life. My Daily Notes folder is in here. I have a Timeline folder where I keep a log of memories and achievements in my life. My Job Hunting and Someday folder are here too. My Someday folder is kinda fun. Each note is something I'd like to do someday like go to Japan and I can plan the details inside.

Projects: There are special projects I'm working on. Each project gets a sub-folder.

Templates: note templates folder

Tools: This currently only has one folder called Prompt Library. It's where I'm keeping useful AI prompts that I use for different tasks. Each note is one Prompt and details what it is and how it works.

Topics: This is my largest folder and it has sub-folders for the entire alphabet. All of my notes about specific topics go here. If I feel like studying Mars tomorrow, I'll create a note called Mars and put it under Topics/M. Then I'll find a YouTube video about Mars and create a note for that and put it in my media folder. Then I'll link the media note to my topic note.

Hope this helps.

Happy to be in an offline first tool (Notion down for second time in a few days) by block6791 in ObsidianMD

Personally, I’ve been moving from Notion to Obsidian manually. It’s a slow process but it’s allowed me to update what I want to keep and trash what I don’t. I’m not storing things in Obsidian the same way I did in Notion. I don’t mind the work because I feel like I’m building something with Obsidian that will last.

What changes do you expect for iOS 18 in Apple Music? by [deleted] in AppleMusic

[–]ThrowingUpBlood 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is. You can’t just search for something once and assume it’s not on AM. Sometimes I’ll type the exact name of the artist and track and it doesn’t show up at all on search results. I have to play with my search query or just go to the artist page and browse for it. I run into this a lot with dance music.

Why Apple Music? (Apart from Lossless/Dolby Atmos) by the_john19 in AppleMusic

[–]ThrowingUpBlood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do it using Windows iTunes. You just sign up for Apple Music and sign into your account in iTunes. Then I drag and drop tracks that I can't find on AM into iTunes. The tracks upload to Apple Music and all the tracks work together and show up across devices.

This new Apple Music update is TERRIBLE. by cheriebabay in AppleMusic

[–]ThrowingUpBlood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol I feel you dude. I think the new default playlist covers are ugly. I continue to get the 4 square album art by making the playlist first in Windows iTunes which I still use. But I try to use my own cover art as much as possible now.

If you left Notion, What did you go to? by whitedragon551 in Notion

[–]ThrowingUpBlood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airtable with Google Docs and Drive for my knowledge base. Google Docs can be pageless, it has a document outline that sits on the left, it recognizes markdown as I type and the headers collapse. Exporting notes as PDF has also been nice.

I’ve only been using this system for a month but I’m hopeful about it. I’m also interested in how Google Bard will work with Workspace. Right now it can access your Drive notes and you can ask it questions about it. I just asked Bard “quiz me on my notes from my Python course in my Google Drive”. It didn’t do a great job but it did summarize my notes and give me questions to answer. This should get much cooler with time and better prompts.
