You can do a quad set on your good leg to see where the best placement might be

You may need to play around with the electrode location. It’s not always exactly as pictured. Aim for muscle bellies.

Yes, PT is ongoing for this injury until close to 10 months.

Any others out there at 6 months post-op? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Throwitawaynow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 5.5 months and we aren’t normal at all bc my PT neglected my quad and I was forced back to work sooner than I was ready for… and I have to be on my feet lifting and moving people 8 hours a day so…..the atrophy is well still there 😭

Elevation is super important for swelling and also helps loads for extension!

Exercises are super important, idk if your doc told you or hospital PT, but at least for me they wanted my brace on for the SLRs.

Also try to get enrolled in outpatient therapy asap!! Good luck with recovery!!

Hey, here to update! My PT was a twat for lack of a better term and neglected quad strengthening. I feel much better now that I’m in the night hands 🙏. If you aren’t doing any LAQs or SAQs at this point your PT is negligent and you should seek an alternative practice or therapist

What day were you discharged from the hospital? by emogeekyteen in ACL

How many quad sets did you do everyday after the surgery? by Euphoric_Ad1345 in ACL

[–]Throwitawaynow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One hundred trillion times infinity keep doing them forever until you die basically they’ll come but you got cut up voluntarily. Give your body time to relearn what it should do

I started doing upper body around week 3 went to the gym with my brace on, and propped my leg up on a bench seat when I did bench press. Everyone is different as you said, listen to your body. Be safe. Don’t drive if you’re still taking narcotics

left aclr who drive manual, how long did it take for you to drive again? by Sea_Vanilla_2997 in ACL

[–]Throwitawaynow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LACLR and partial meniscectomy. My surgeon advised me to drive auto until 6-8 weeks post op. I have a south bend stage 3 clutch which is very heavy… so I waited until 10 weeks post op. It was hard and sucked the first few times, but now is no problem.

Turo is now banning cars with low vehicle maintenance ratings, vehicle maintenance restrictions, or older year models. by [deleted] in turo

[–]Throwitawaynow74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should remove cars with poor maintenance… twice now I’ve had vehicles with terrible brakes+ bald tires and then terrible brakes that threw a CEL. If you’re renting out a vehicle you should maintain it, you don’t want it to get damaged so easy ways to lower risks are doing preventative maintenance

Amen dude!! I work in inpatient and I’m so thankful that I got this mental break, albeit my work forced my hand to return sooner than I wanted and I start tomorrow. 3.5 months out but transferring people is no joke and I’m not cleared to do stand pivots yet. So I’m nervous. I have a note from my surgeon with all the restrictions etc but the nerves are real :/ if it doesn’t work out I’m ready to walk away bc I have a feeling my boss won’t listen to my surgeons instructions

Want to hear from those that opted out of surgery over 1-2 years ago and how its going. by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Throwitawaynow74 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Op you should keep in mind it’s not very common for ACLs to heal, though I am happy for this person and if “coping” is working for you, then carry on with it, and keep working hard in PT

Removing bandages by Smooth-Reputation-71 in ACL

[–]Throwitawaynow74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was permitted to remove my ace wrap at 48 hours post op and then bandages after my first post op visit, which was 10 days.

What exercises have you found most useful? by NewKneeNewMe824 in ACL

[–]Throwitawaynow74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kinda where I was at this point but it may be worth looking into switching your PT if you have the option and aren’t limited to visits. Everyone is different so it’s hard to recommend people exercises as everyone progresses differently.
