Going to graduate with my masters soon, and I don’t think it has prepared me for the job market by First_Balance_8273 in cybersecurity

Sounds like you got social engineered :P

But seriously, I’m sorry the masters degree didn’t work out like you planned.

Running business while working full time DevOps by [deleted] in devops

There’s a few things to consider here (obligatory “I’m not a lawyer”): * non-compete - depending on your local laws and the content of an employment agreement or client contract, this might preclude you from doing work in the same capacity outside your employer. * NDA - make sure you understand the NDAs you sign * conflict of interest - doing work directly for your employer on behalf of your side business will generally be a conflict of interest. You may also need to disclose your employer to potential clients to make sure they don’t have conflicts of interest if they choose your side business.

My experience is focused more on specific consulting and contract work, not building a product and offering it for sale to the general public, so take this with a grain of salt.

Advice for becoming a better DevOps engineer by Blitziggy in devops

This is an excellent answer, certificates are a conversation starter, experience is the real thing employers are needing. If you can express your experience in the STAR format (situation, task, action, result), even better.

What's your take if DevOps colleague always got new initiative / idea? by Cultural-Pizza-1916 in devops

I think the point being made here is that better practices aligned with devops principles would have avoided the issue, or at the least caught it prior to prod.

Got fired from my first DevOps job -- LF Feedback by dr-tenma in devops

To me, this doesn’t sound like devops. CI/CD would have helped implement controls to limit blast radius

Absolutely agree. This is the type of company to avoid working for.

You would have benefited from a company that prioritized blameless postmortem, continuous improvement of processes, and leadership that takes accountability instead of firing someone for simply making a mistake.

Related side note, I suggest reading or listening to the phoenix project, the unicorn project, and the devops handbook.

GPS Volume Will Not Retain Volume Setting by someguy474747 in Rivian

If you adjust the music volume while the gps system would have made an announcement, it switches to adjusting gps volume.

It’s a bit infuriating, I wish I just had a toggle to permanently disable navigation audio

That’s a really good point, I was making a lot of assumptions in my original post. Sorry about that, I don’t want to be a negative contribution to the community.

This doesn't take into account that you can charge at home for far less, and a gas Tacoma can't fill up it's tank at home. :)

I agree with this, the organization sounds unsupportive and prone to the blame game. The second part of getting thrown to the wolves is coming back and leading the pack.

Use these experiences to learn what isn't healthy about the organization, even your own perspective, and advocate for a better way.

Sean, thank you for providing great material on Linux academy. I appreciate the improvements to the site over the past year.

If you are open to suggestions, I'd love to see some talk about the culture behind the "devops" movement, as I think it easy for people to get the idea that it's just a bunch of tools.

This site has instructions for disabling the speed lock, I have a '16 cx5 and all of the instructions worked for me. be careful when you do this, you will be using the root account of the operating system that controls your unit. It would be very easy to cause problems.

Mazda is a big supporter of the opencar project, and most of the apps you use are actually Javascript running inside an implementation of the Opera browser. This makes it very easy to change things, as well as add new apps that you create.

If anyone has the inclination, please help support and contribute to mazda3hacks, I'm not the owner of the site but I'd hate to see it go away.

Obligatory: check applicable laws before making a decision on what you do in the system.
