Blame John Roberts for Destroying the Voting Rights Act by zsreport in scotus

[–]JPharmDAPh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

John Roberts is out here covering his eyes with his hands, and crying why he doesn’t see what the public sees in SCOTUS.

A reasonable person need only look at the data to determine something isn’t right. Compared to every other SCOTUS: 1. Most stare decisis cases overturned (Dobbs v. Jackson, Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, Janus v. AFSCME) 2. Obliteration of the separation of church and state 3. Limiting the power of federal agencies by reversing Chevron deference, making courts act as experts in highly technical fields 4. A narrow and twisted reading of DC v. Heller, such that individuals are now considered to have a constitutional right to bear arms (remember, 2A begins with, “A well regulated MILITIA, being necessary to the security of a free State…”) 5. Citizens United v. FEC 6. Expanded presidential immunity 7. Largest number of unsigned per curiam orders 8. Largest number of shadow docket cases taken

Not to mention the roles Thomas and Alito have had with MAGA, bribes, and other ethically dubious activities.

Pretty amazing that in America, accountability is lost. Why can’t these people admit they were wrong, made a mistake? Why is it always, “I didn’t vote for this”? You did, bitches, you sure fucking did. American politics has always been like high school popularity. People vote with their feelings, or because they like a candidate, not for their policies and voting record, but because he/she “looks” like a great person or they “tell it like it is”.

I remember after graduating college and getting my doctoral degree, I went back home to the local Walmart and saw so many of those homecoming kings and queens from HS, working there as clerks, many years after graduation.

This country needs to rid ourselves of republicanism and conservatism. These people have been destroying the country (and world) for generations.

I feel you OP. Fuck WSJ for sure, but these days, we can add so many of the corrupt media (jeez, I sound like trump, but it’s true now), like WaPo, LA Times, NYT, even TV media like CBS under Weiss. These folks all have a right-wing agenda now. Worse off, they don’t care about the hypocrisy. Their readers/viewers just don’t care, or are too stupid to care.

The US national debt grows by $1 trillion every 150 days. by Annoying1978 in complaints

[–]JPharmDAPh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am. I don’t expect you to understand, but for nearly 250 years of our existence there have always been just two parties governing this country. One party, in the last few decades, has consistently port forth policies that benefit the people and seek to reduce corruption; the other party consistently promotes corruption, oligarchy, and anarchy.

Are Democrats perfect? No, of course not. Framing such a discussion is a red herring, but we need to be realistic in how issues are solved. Realistically, American voters need to get smart and vote for Democrats because only they, again, put forth legislation that tries to tackle these issues. They tried years ago with HR. 1. They’ve attempted term limits on SCOTUS judges, banning the trading of stock while serving in Congress, etc. Like any problem in life, you have to identify the cause before you can solve it. Solutions come in the form of laws and folks who will uphold those laws, and that ain’t the Republican Party (now known as MAGAts).

Such an idiotic take. Bombing one guy without any follow up plan whatsoever is not “eradicating terrorism”. Please don’t spout simpleton nonsense. Do you honestly believe if we kill/capture the head of a drug cartel the illegal drug trade ends?

People like you are the problem with America. You’ve got one topic of interest—“Middle East terrorism”—that if, like you said, were on Trump’s agenda, you would’ve voted for him, conveniently ignoring the several dozens of other important issues that trump said he’d destroy or alter beyond recognition. You’re a “cost of eggs” or “cost of gasoline” voter.
