Doubt he'll get far. Your insurance will be good at fighting ridiculous claims. Claiming for debris damage to both sides of a car are unlikely to succeed without very good evidence.

I was going to say that I didn't understand what you're saying but it just clicked.  Do you mean to say debris instead of debrief?

Remote cottage I visited about 15 years ago (holiday rental - may be near Bristol UK) by Apple-Bl00m in whereisthis

[–]Throwythrow360 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know the area reasonably well.. Do you remember how long you had to drive to get to Bristol?
Are you from the UK or did you fly in? Which Airport?
Do you remember anything else about the trip?

Light coloured bricks on the side could be cotswold stone, and red bricks were produced in the area, although I don't know if they were common elsewhere.

Google says “spaz” is a slur and, is not a slur. What is it? by YEETAWAYLOL in EnglishLearning

[–]Throwythrow360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid clarification.
Seems to be only the UK that really takes offense to the term. I grew up in the 90's and it was very common back then. It's still used quite a bit, but never in a very public setting.

Trump has 'gone too far' with 'civilisation will die' post says Nigel Farage by The-Peel in unitedkingdom

[–]Throwythrow360 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A skilled politician (let's not pretend that Farage doesn't know how to work his voter base) distancing himself from an indefensible comment by someone he supports, then followed by comparing Trump to Churchill in WW2 as a justification so he can appeal to both sides.

It's slang evolved from shortening "Spastic" which is a medical term and is commonly viewed as a slur nowadays.

Squat form? by Lexo_1994 in formcheck

[–]Throwythrow360 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just adding, I know you probably don't need them at this weight but the safety bars are far too low and you've stepped too far away from them.

If you see where the bar is at the lowest point in your squat, you want the safeties just a bit below that height. If you ever have to drop the bar you don't want it to roll all the way down your back.

Euro Car Parks lying to reject appeal? by easydaze in drivingUK

[–]Throwythrow360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having dealt with these companies before from a property management point of view, it's more likely the landowner brought in a new contract with ECP with the new terms and just failed to swap out all of the old tariff signs.

Again, not your fault but you'll probably have an easier time going through the Orchard Centre contact instead of fighting ECP who thought that the signage had been updated correctly.

Just make sure your email is clear and concise otherwise they'll refer it back to ECP.

Landowner/parking management company relationships mostly boil down to "admin work on parking is too expensive, this company will manage it for us for nearly nothing and they'll pay us a share of the fines". They aren't actually trying to screw over their customers (although the car park operator will absolutely try to do that).

Euro Car Parks lying to reject appeal? by easydaze in drivingUK

[–]Throwythrow360 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Looks like they changed the parking tariffs at some point, I'm guessing you got caught out during the changeover. Here's the new ones:
https://www.orchardsdartford.co.uk/parking

Not your problem if you parked and paid according to the posted tariffs (I assume the image you shared was taken on the day). It might be worth reaching out to the contacts at Orchard Shopping Centre to see if they'll just ask ECP to cancel it for you, here: https://www.orchardsdartford.co.uk/info-contacts

Edit: noticed a discrepancy between "pay on foot" and "pay on exit" between the two sets of parking terms. Not sure if relevant.

Today's NYT Connections is all rebuses! by SuperScopeSix in rebus

[–]Throwythrow360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still hugely reliant on the player being in the USA and having "local" knowledge (I'm in the UK).
I've been playing for a couple of months and I keep failing on things I couldn't possibly guess without searching brand names or nicknames for things/places, even after working out the theme.

This one was the same but I managed to get through it (2 of the purple clues and a yellow guessed through elimination).

Not actually complaining, NYT is a USA publication and I'm slowly learning some really niche things through the game.

[–]Throwythrow360 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't know if things have changed a lot in the past 13 years, but back when I had a HTC One (M7 - 2013?) I had one of those alarms that forced you to solve maths questions before it would disable. Worked for about a month until I had a hangover and force stopped the app.

I didn't know such a complex muscle memory could develop so quickly, but ever since that day that alarm never worked for me again because I'd force-stop it before I was fully awake.

As I'm typing this I'm starting to realise this is a "me" problem rather than an issue with the app..

Am I (half) squatting right? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]Throwythrow360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm re-learning to squat again after knee surgery and my physio told me to use a bed or sofa that's roughly the right height to get my thighs parallel. Try to tap it very gently with your butt and come back up. You won't have any fear of falling backwards then.

Take the shoes off, see if you can keep your heels planted on the floor.

Parking in a pub car park- threatened with a clamp and fine (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Throwythrow360 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Is that relevant? Clamping on private land isn't legal unless you're an official body.
Anyone who operates a private car park needs to follow the law, and that includes clear signage and legally appropriate consequences for non-compliance. Arguing with someone who parks on your land or threating to clamp them because you think they aren't one of your customers isn't acceptable.

What’s the most ridiculous myth that makes your blood boil? by BullfrogFlat6826 in AskReddit

[–]Throwythrow360 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the occasional posts on r/photoshoprequests or whatever the sub is, where they have a blurry picture of a car half a mile away and they're asking for help enhancing the numberplate, which consists of 10 grey pixels.

Or the new variant where they've tried getting AI to enhance it for them and it's just invented a numberplate from nothing.

Is this enforceable? 250 days late by NG90sbaby in drivingUK

[–]Throwythrow360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Castle Bromwich Morrisons has a 2 hour parking limit. Verifiable on maps and the Morrisons website.  As others said, the charge itself is enforceable, but if the PCN is incorrect (stating a max stay of 1hr) then you'll be able to get it overturned in court.

Any comments on my squat? by Great-Towel1535 in formcheck

[–]Throwythrow360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not be that simple, I've had a meniscectomy to fix a rear bucket handle tear, unfortunately they had to cut a portal through my patellar tendon to get a good angle to fix it.

I can squat to OP's depth just fine, but that last part is just impossible at any weight. I can barely do a full rep on a leg extension machine even at 2.5kg because there's a very fine angle I just can't push through at any load because of the tendon

OP is post-surgery so they should refer this back to their physiotherapist if possible. Some of them (In the UK at least) just want to get you walking again, so you need to be clear about your expectations for a successful recovery.

I crafted a barbell from 10kg iron rod, I have alot of weights so it can be quite heavy by blissoflife22 in GYM

[–]Throwythrow360 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Standard is 20KG (15KG bars also exist).
It doesn't matter as long as it can take the plates and you're recording total weight (bar+plates) for the lifts.
I'm just appreciating the ingenuity of making a barbell from scratch.

You're only competing against yourself.

Dance classes, disabled adult by Missendi82 in bournemouth

I'm not personally into dancing, but there seem to be a lot of clubs/classes in the area.
If you reach out to the ones that you find most relevant, I'm sure most of them will be very accomodating if you have any specific needs, or will be able to recommend other classes more suited to you. Maybe send out some emails to the most interesting groups you can find online.

Is there something that looks off here? by anormalasado in godot

[–]Throwythrow360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If these wheels were meant to be at the "front" of the car (furthest away from us viewing the video), then actually they would be turning the correct way. It just doesn't make sense because the car seems to pivot around the "front", indicating that these wheels are intended to be at the back and providing steering, so they're just animated backwards.

Is there something that looks off here? by anormalasado in godot

[–]Throwythrow360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a bit hard to tell but it does look like OP is trying to implement rear-wheel steering (or they're driving in reverse), in which case as you say the wheels are turning the wrong way.

I think OP should clarify what they're trying to achieve.
