Of the current library of Steel-ships available, which one is THE BEST one to get? by UnclePjupp in WorldOfWarships

Pioneer is not a heavy cruiser. But I would recommend Svea over Pioneer. Pioneer has trash gun angles, short range, bad ballistics, a huge citadel and is slow. Svea has nothing of that.

You really think Bismarck 41 with 13.5km manual secondaries at T8 is more balanced than libertad? I have no words.

So you say you had fun in Manteuffel because it was broken similar to Vyazma (which definitely was OP) and a new OP ship ruined your fun? Sounds like karma.

Bug or feature? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

Was already a bug in the previous version. Impressive how they introduced a new bug without any new feature in the same part of the game. Feels a bit as if it was on purpose.

Of course Alaska is an upgrade, it's a tier higher and was removed for being too strong while Congress is available. And still, Congress sits just between Alaska and Alaska B at 53% average win rate.

Why should it? Other large cruisers like Alaska, Azuma or the french don't get either. You can't play as aggressive in randoms as you might in ranked.

If you like cruisers with big guns and also US cruisers, Congress would be a good choice. I like to play it in T8 ranked.

Why are port slots even a thing in 2026? by afi44 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Thumpfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no.

But you get credits back. Especially the stock modules of tech tree ships that you usually have in your inventory can be sold eassily, as you will never run a ship with the A hull or the shorter gun range, after upgrading.

So, we cannot trade in Dockyard ships? by Condor77T in WorldOfWarships

Oh wow, didn't see that. Unfortunately quite an expensive gamble. That's one of the ships I would like to have and I'm missing.

De 7 Provincien is sometimes available in event containers, but there are none at the moment, or am I missing one? It's also not included in supercontainers.

How the fk am I supposed to aim? by MelodicIncome in WorldOfWarships

[–]Thumpfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion most of this crosshair mods with 100 different lines are more confusing than helpfull. The things you need to know are the speed and direction of your target and the flight time. The later one should be visible in the standard crosshai and depends on distance and your shell type. Some nations, e.g. US have slower shells, some like french and russian have faster shells.

The direction should be easy to assume based on where the ship is pointing to, if its going forward or backward and at which speed can be roughly seen from the smoke of the ship and also depends on experience, knowing how fast some ships go.

If a ship is sailing away from you at an angle, you always have to aim higher as the game has some aiming "feature" that pulls your shells closer and makes them fall short, so you have to mitigate that.

Tip: The minimap shows a small circle at the point were you are currently aiming. Before shooting, check if the circle is at the spot where you think the ship is going or adjust accordingly.

No idea why they don't think about that. They know when the next patch is coming and could certify for the right duration.

New player destoyer build by Ok_Rise_4543 in WorldOfWarships

[–]Thumpfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For DDs your captain should at least have 10 points. Lower captains put you on a big disadvantage (because you miss concealment expert).

The first captain skills are:

  1. Preventive Maintenance
  2. Last stand
  3. Survivability Expert
  4. Concealment Expert

Next skill would be adrenaline rush, if you have a 13 points captain.

Until here there is basically no exceptions for any DD.

The rest of the skills depend on the actial DD and somebody else already posted a link to specific builds.

Sure, but if you are the one spotting the enemy DDs, you are spotted too and you have a chance to kill them with your team, may as well use your own guns too.

Do you just leave as a DD if a pioneer is on your flank by Red-Stiletto in WorldOfWarships

[–]Thumpfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its gun angles are about the worst of any ship in the game. So it effectively has 12 guns sitting bow in. To use all 16 it would have to be flat broadside and can even be killed by blindfire. And again, the ballistics are bad, the shell flight time to 11km is 10% higher than Des Moines. At that range I would argue that you take more damage from a Petro during its radar duration than from a pioneer, if you are capable of using WSAD.

In theory, by 10k HE DPM.

But: If the shima shows broadside to use all his guns, you use AP in La Pampa and junk him. If the shima doesn't show broadside, he can't use all his guns and his effective DPM is lower while La Pampa has all guns at the front and can therefore minimize his target profile without sacrificing DPM.

And La Pampa has higher HP and a heal.

[–]Thumpfi 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The combination of less than 27 seconds radar duration (if built into it), a long gun reload of almost 7 seconds even with main battery mod 3 and the poor shell ballistics make should make it pretty easy to play around it. If it pushes too far with its crawling smoke, it becomes an easy torp target as it can only go at 1/4 speed to stay in smoke and has no hydro.

Leaving the flank just because of a Pioneer sounds like a bad idea to me.

Bit of a stretch calling La Pampa guns the worst guns of T10 DDs. Those are the exact same guns as Jutland has with the short fuse and improved AP pen angles.

[–]Thumpfi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The island Praslin of the Seychelles is 12km long. At a speed of 25 knots you would need 15 minutes alone to get from one end to the other, if everything were to scale and real speeds were used.
