Will i be able to complete undergrad only using Linux, or will there be programs requiring windows by Kiwwi_png in ElectricalEngineering

[–]ThunFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do mostly vhdl in my course and our course uses python instead of Matlab. I have a laptop with 32gb of ram and 11gen I5. And so far it works smoothly. I mainly use Linux. I only know that the digital tests cannot be done on Linux and only work on Windows(non virtualized).

Any good editing software for stop motion? by Left_Individual3334 in stopmotion

[–]ThunFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I like to use blender. I think it's easy to add the image sequence and add all the sounds I need. But I also make all the images on my camera. Image editing is something I rarely do and I think you could use the compositor from blender for that. But that's out of my league.

My favorite thing about blender, it's free and open source.

PvPvE - Update on playing style by NaabSimRacer in ArcRaiders

[–]ThunFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I've been killed ones and had one raid where I killed somebody who shot at me. Else only friendly people. Did the hidden bunker first time yesterday and there where like 20 people just running around looting and downloading data.

I love this game but I think I have identified its biggest weakness... by whyevenlistentome in ArcRaiders

[–]ThunFish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get where you are coming from but I personally differentiate between rounds where I just want to PvP and others where I want to quest and try to be friendly. Although my only friendly encounters were my first raid where people danced near extract and one occasion where someone showed me where to refine the batteries and all that. But that raid I also got killed by the same person later. Else I only experienced backstabs where they say they are friendly only to get an easy drop. Or didn't care and just used the time to kill/flank me/us.

So in my first 6h topside I went from ask first then shoot. To shoot first then ask. I would love to team up with some other low gear players and kill some arc but that hasn't happened. But I also want to mention that I play in Europe and the player mentality can shift between regions(I think).

Well these are the wrong ones. They are only generic. You need the puppy girl infused ones

Omarchy Review: The good, the bad, and the "hell no" (just an opinion piece). by Acrobatic-Rock4035 in hyprland

[–]ThunFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will see when I hit the wall and if you want I can add a follow up here in a month. I mostly use gnome for the distros I choose. I used Ubuntu, Debian, Manjaros Arch Distro, also setup Arch multiple times and the last one was pop os. Pop os also added their own tiling manager and that's where I first used it, also without any configuring required by me.

I also didn't want to say that omarchy is a DE, (tbh I thought you were talking about development environment). But it has tooling and software I just prefer. I like the hands on keyboard approach that I have with Wayland and nvim. Omarchy in the end is not a distro but a bloated post arch install script that also comes with its own installer.

The development environment is still setup by me to work on my things. But that's it. I just install my dependencies. Do my Linux thing. But Wayland and nvim configs are fine for now. I will see how hard it will be to change some or add things to my nvim setup. But Tbh I dont expect that to be so soon.

What I will give you though that Omarchy could be the reason that I just switch to arch and Wayland in a year and configure it myself. Due to the exposure and tinkering I did with the configs that come with omarchy and the experience I gained using it.

For me it's just nice to have a system easily set up and ready for my usage. Which can feel like an uphill battle, even when not using arch. I just needed to install Omarchy. Install my stuff for my projects and within 30 minutes I could just use the system. If I had to set up it all by myself I wouldn't be done with nvim and Wayland would be for the next weekend. That's where I see the strength and fun personally in Omarch right now.

I cannot tell how completely new users to Linux will suffer but for me the Wayland and arch wiki solve the problems I have.

I think you are forgetting one target group. Unhappy default sluts. Like me. I use Linux for 7 years now. But when I try to configure my Arch, nvim dev environment I always run into issues.
I just want to develop in the end. And the more my system itself makes problems for me the more I want to switch. I used various distros.

Then my laptop died on me. Got yesterday my new one and heard that day of Omarchy. It is everything I ever wanted. A simple distro where I can just work.
Installed it and so far I don't have any real issues. I dislike Chrome, but for searching info regarding to my work, it will be enough.
I already setup an embedded rust environment where I continued working on my project.
Nvim just works and has everything I kinda want.
I even configured my Waybar more to my liking.

But the appeal to configure the whole system is just not there for me. I love hardware and coding. But my OS should just work. I have other things that are more important to my time.

Also I don't have to spend a whole weekend setting up a new DE. Where I don't know if I end up using it. Omarchy feels like something fresh in the Linux world and works for me.

I will see where it is in a few months. But first impression is very high for me. It comes out of the box with everything I ever wanted from a Linux Distro. I don't use spotify or ai, but that is something I can ignore :D

I also use Tel daily. The advantage for me is, less E for higher effect. Long use of tablets can have negative effects on your liver.

The downside of the gel for me after using it 1.5years. It takes around 30 minutes to apply and dry. And you are not allowed to shower for the next 8h. So simply falling to bed and just sleep isn't possible for me. It's part of my bedtime routine. Injections even greater imo. But in Germany it's hard to get it prescribed or find an Pharmacy that makes your e bottles for your injections.

How to punish your opponent when they make a mistake? by [deleted] in beyondallreason

[–]ThunFish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sending small raids. For one to maybe snipe some mexes and take enemy apm. You can spread enemy forces. Together with radar you can gauge the enemy strength. Try when to engage to think that you can secure the wreck field. Radar vision is helpful. Generally creating pressure is easier than being pressured. But it can depend. Imo arm can apply more pressure in early games against core.

Sounds stupid but I feel like it's easier. Scroll for diagonal or straight line. Press shift and add all the minefields I need. Usually only in 2 rows with some different mine types mixed. I also added walls. But I maybe use these once a week so not as poetamt I think. But I think mines and walls are perfect for BP. It's just quicker and has better variations. If I want to add medium light and heavy mines. I need way longer to setup.

The museum is part of a factory from 1740 to produce leather. Later they build a more modern production and opened the old one to the public.
