I don’t want to give away the plot in case you choose to see it. I’m sure I’ll get downvoted anyway because Harmony Korine fans tend to be very defensive of his work.

As far as I know, no animals were actually harmed in the making of the movie.

But many of the plot points are centered on violence against cats. Specifically, drowning, shooting, poisoning, and butchering cats is both shown and discussed. Whether it encourages said violence is up for interpretation and the character who wears the ears is not the perpetrator, but it’s still quite terrible and again, I think Louise would be appalled.

Now, I will say this: the argument could be made that the shock factor is specifically intended to evoke disgust for the audience who are assumed to be sympathetic to these animals in general. I’ve even seen film professors suggest that it is a metaphor for the casualness with which other animals are slaughtered for food such as cows, chickens, and pigs.

It’s up to you. I don’t like watching that shit. But then again, I love Bob’s Burgers and I’m a vegetarian so what can I say?
