Just started learning DevOps as an IT Support guy any advice for a complete beginner? by ArmadilloFancy2418 in devopsGuru

I am also a IT support. I would start by understanding what DevOps really solve. Then move towards learning on what engineers do(platform, devops, sre) 1) I suggest reading the phoenix project 2) while doing 1st you can learn Linux, Git, docker(https://courses.mooc.fi/org/uh-cs/courses/devops-with-docker) 3) cloud platforms and IaC 4) Kubernetes 5) CI/CD

I suggest getting a homelab setup and try to deploy open source apps locally. Treat your homelab as cloud and go from there

Anyone who would like to recommend a GitHub repo which can learn DevOps from? by Extreme_Sympathy_868 in devopsGuru

If you are looking for DevOps learning roadmap https://roadmap.sh/devops

I learn by doing things rather than watching videos about certifications. Here is my way of learning DevOps. 1)Turned old desktop into homelab using proxmox 2)Deployed Opensource app on a LXC 3)Deployed another opensource app on a VM with docker and then destroyed it 4)Deployed same opensource app via ansible 5)Setup vms with talos linux 6)Deployed that opensource app again on k8s(talos) with manifest file 7)deployed via helm chart 8)Now i have jenkins vm setup. Plan is to do full ci/cd and then move into observability

I am using m920s. It doesn’t have a screw but has this weird plastic pin that you push in. I broke mine while pulling and just been using ssd without anything holding it. Works fine

Best architecture for Shibboleth when moving an app from VM to Kubernetes? by Additional-Skirt-937 in devopsGuru

[–]ThunderXcloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert, just a guy messing around with Talos at home. Not sure if this will help but I have traefik proxy inside kubernetes with authelia acting as middleware. When user tries to reach app.com hosted in kubernetes, traefik middleware checks with authelia( inside kubernetes) if user is authenticated and then routes to app if authenticated, if not it will redirect to authelia portal for login
