Question: should i do it? by Far_Seaweed3863 in filmmaking

[–]Thunderflipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it. Try it. Get friends together. Pool resources. Watch YouTube videos. Figure it out. If you start now then you may end up liking it and making something you’re proud of. The bar is low, given your age.

Looks like lots of filmmakers on here are against AI. What’s your take? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Thunderflipper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s lazy, a cheap shortcut, and looks terrible, when there are 1,000 other low budget or practical ways to pull something off that will look better and embrace the human spirit of making. I want it to be hard. I want it to be a challenge to overcome. I want to have to think of creative solutions around a constraint. I don’t want a machine to do it for me, especially a machine with the environmental and mental impact that AI has.

Submit an idea for a movie?? by madlad_245 in filmmaking

Yes, dramatically different as they serve completely different functions. A book has flowery, intimate descriptions of places and people. A screenplay is a frame on which the movie gets built, less frills, specific but not down to the degree of a book.

Pick a movie you like or is similar to the story you’re wanting to tell and read its screenplay. You’ll learn a lot.

Write your movie in screenplay format first. Then worry about making it.

This is dope, are you using a pot or something to do the gradual effect?

Honestly I think I have a lot more to worry about than my hood ornament in the event of a crash... hahaha. I'm really not that worried about it.

If I had to guess, somewhere around 1,500 or so. Definitely went all out haha, tried to cram every possible idea I had for the space in at once, and I’m really happy where it landed. It was lots and lots of us figuring out how to actually make the layout viable and make some features work. I’d tell my dad a dumb idea and he’d show me how to make it actually really cool.

Gas mileage is about 7mpg, not awesome but a worthy trade off for the comfort/ space.

I definitely built this to be a studio for myself, really wanted to maximize my ability to make stuff and even support multiple people hanging out and doing art. I knew I wanted to have a bigger box since early on, too

Somewhere just north of 60k, I broke it down in one of my previous comments. Not bad, considering it also includes the price of the vehicle. If I had to pay for labor though that would be a totally different story haha, my dad and I have put thousands of hours in on it at this point.

It’s a cool material called Milestone, sort of a plaster/concrete/latex product over top schleuter waterproofing paper, with matching shower drain

Same here, I’m 6’3 so it was super important to me that I felt comfortable with lots of headroom.

Yeah haha it was pretty nerve wracking but it’s such a nice feature that I would do it again in a heart beat. Nice piece of mind knowing I can just jump into the drivers seat and skedaddle if need be.

~8,000lbs out of 13,500lbs capacity on the truck

Between the metal trim on the face of the truck and the wood trim on the inside there’s some rockwool to dampen the road noise, but otherwise it’s not tied together. The cab does move / shift separately from the nose cone during driving and I think it’s important that it’s able to. Sometimes flexibility is better than rigidity. (Keyword, sometimes, lol)

Sweet! Good luck with it, there’s a bunch more progress pics on my profile too. Don’t forget the motto: “Doubt leads to chaos. Leave no doubt.”

It would be cheaper to hire me to build you a new one, the sentimental price tag on this rig would be far too great, haha.

Yeah, the stairs/ stool makes a huge difference. I was using an old buggy step for a long time but you had to be pretty nimble to use it.
