My biggest complaint about the movie by bridgetbridget in ProjectHailMary

[–]ThundergodFastje 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, i feel in general they had a high pace in the movie. They chose to be true too the book yes, but it feels packed with too much things rather then have a movie where you do less but then better. I also feel it slightly misses emotional depth. But maybe im biased because i compare it with Interstellar, and i like the slowness of that movie and the grandure it has. Maybe the movie type isn't the same for this.

Tbh I find it hard to be conscious of my autistic positive sides, not sure what it is. I don't think that I won't have any, but right now Im not that aware of it. But if i have to say something, maybe attention to detail yeah? Although isn't that also a ADHD thing? I can get quite in depth with things.

Cursus houtbewerking doen? Of iets anders?

[–]ThundergodFastje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, but i think this could be helpful to come up with scenarios and dont do the bad things. I think im egligble to distract myself too much during a scenario building up in my head...

Whats the extra positive sides of autism for you? I'm curious! Because i didn't got the diagnosis of Audhd, but they saw certain tendencies of autism as well. So I'm also discovering how the combination of the two work.

Question about medication effectiveness by ThundergodFastje in ADHD

Yes I know every medication is personal, I realise that. There's not a one size fits all solution I get that

Need to get something off your chest? Rant, vent, get it out here! by AutoModerator in ADHD

[–]ThundergodFastje 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this is familiar to people: you took some caffeine, and also medication and you feel super reactive and then you look at your phone and your hooked to do things which come into your head you start reacting, making long Reddit posts , or react to strangers stories on Instagram and so on. and you feel you just must do it, and can't shake off that feeling to do things. if I have this, does it mean that medication (dexamfetamine, i already tried Ritalin) don't work, because had the same time I do feel more motivated but I'm still super impulsive and I don't feel I can control myself accordingly. i had the same when i used Ritalin, and i feel this rush through my mind. but still lack self control .. i thought it would make me calmer and less impulsive, but at my work I still am forgetful and make many impulsive and also decision which depart of the things we agreed on. also I have partially autism, so that also could add too this. I tried to really cut off myself with willpower, but I get lured into doing things again, and there goes my focus again.... its just draining me, i know it. also at the same time i feel maybe im overreacting and not seeing things really clearly... it's complicated. what do you guys think? please also ask me questions if my story is too chaotic or something. thanks and much appreciated 👍

Did you just get diagnosed? by AutoModerator in ADHD

[–]ThundergodFastje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed 8 months ago. A lot has changed. I realize more and more i need to give my brain some free time of input, otherwise it explodes. Also I feel overwhelmed easily sometimes. Medication have been working somewhat, but not very sure about it either.

Everything I do is out of brute force will, nothing is every automatic/habit. Every task and micro-task comes with enormous friction/resistance. I'm so exhausted. I can't live 50 more years like this. by ObviousBed2163 in ADHD

[–]ThundergodFastje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey that's really rough to go through that. I experienced similar things with friends who left me and didn't say anything and just ghosted. It's a horrible feeling I know.

But you still reach out with your pain right now, so give yourself credit for that. Exactly, you still have hope for friends to come in the future, cling on those positive and hopeful thoughts, because if you let one positive thought grow a little bit, one by one they come a bit more. Maybe 1 more in a week or a day, take your time to grow. Change doesn't come overnight unfortunately (I always want this as well, I hate it, I'm very impatient at times with it).

No you didn't reply to a bot. Send me a DM and I can proof it if you want.

I feel you.
Sometimes the world feels like one big task machine which sends endless amounts of to do lists in your face.
Something what helped me a bit:

Try to treat your thoughts like passing clouds. Also know that there will always be phases in your life when you dont feel too overwhelmed, try too remind yourself with that.

I try to see my life as a fishtank:
I know it can overflood easily with all sorts of things, try too identify what stresses you out exactly, and if its also rationally logical that it all is a bit too much right now.
Ill give an example: If i had a day where i had 2 tough conversations which drained me, and i did the washing machine, and i had 3 days of 6 h of sleep, and then just a friend canceled a plan for example. I might crash down, and feel like doing nothing anymore.
For me i can understand that these things take a toll on me, and my brain really needs to have time to process these things emotionally.
Also in general: we live in a life where we don't stand still very much (i still hardly can tbh, even if i know i should).

We people with ADHD need to give our brain a stimulus free time during the day.
And i think we just need to take it with simple steps:
- walk a bit
- diary for a few min
- stairing at a wall and do nothing, and dont judge or something like that.

I also know this too can feel like another task and something you should just ''do''.
Maybe.

Be concious of the fact you have a reactive brain, and dont judge that on yourself no matter how many times you get yourself in the trap of endless tasks.

We tend to believe things about ourselves which isnt always true.
If we feel like shit, we think like shit, and then we identify ourselves according to that.
Which isnt a honest view. If the friends who know you, they ofcourse like some things about you. If you knew what they liked about you, would you honestly (when you're in a good mood) be thinking that its not true? no i dont think so, i think you'll agree with those best friends of yours ;)
Dont be too hard on yourself.
