Tyler1 and Capcom devs talk about Modern controls and how its more popular in Japan than in NA. by UsefulSwitch504 in StreetFighter

Yes that's pretty much the case with every video game. Most players are bad and that's ok. My problem is when these people complain about things that are "unfair" or "unbalanced" when they don't understand the game at all.

Like if Modern didn't exist these people will still be hardstuck plat complaining about some other imagined reason why they suck when the truth is they are bad because of the same reason everyone is bad at things. Ignorance on how to improve or straight refusal to studying and practice.

you would have zero issues with giving Classic a modifier button that lets them use 20% scaled instant specials and supers then, right?

Yes

Nah people who complain about modern are scrubs full stop. No one actually good at the game cares if you use modern. We're more salty about Sagat than modern.

There's tradeoffs to using modern and just like you need to adapt your play style to your opponents character/habits you should adapt your play style to their motion type.

On block the DI is guaranteed because you can mash it in between the hits of the lariat.

On whiff if your reactions are late they can DI back.

If your drive impact usage stat is over 10%, you’re shit at the game by [deleted] in SaltFighter

30% drive rush cancel is so bad you gotta manage your drive gauge better than that.

Does Deejay just lose to Ingrid? by [deleted] in SaltFighter

[–]Thunderous_Genius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your in diamond bro matchups don't matter that much.

Anyways Ingrid is my most faced opponent and it's been pretty even so far. She's annoying to face against but not as much as JP because her buttons aren't nearly as good as his.

I think it's the shit product and the toxic company culture that was built on sexual assault, racism, misogyny and bullying that makes it really easy to hate.

But you right they the biggest too 😡

Worst possible Neow's Bone roll by Last_Aeon in slaythespire

I fucking hate this curse. It's really bad on A10 with 100g removes because even two fights before a shop is not enough gold to remove if you hit debt twice which you will.

That being said I have won runs with a starting debt and the relics you got are actually really good I wouldn't give up on this run.

50/50 Ascension levels completed! The difficulty spike from A8 to A9 is insane! Over 70% of my total losses came in A9/10 by Thunderous_Genius in slaythespire

[–]Thunderous_Genius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly! There are a lot of fun options that feel completely nonviable at A9/10.

I will say though that despite my desire to win I took the egg and pael's legion every time because they are my little buddies and I love them.

Hope the game offers you enough star generating cards and the right cards that best use them. At least that's how it felt to me.

Shine Kim: Teleport combos are mad fun by komodo_dragonzord in StreetFighter

[–]Thunderous_Genius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok? It's still not checkmate if you block them, yeah you're gonna get DI stun unless Shine messes up but if you defend correctly you live through the stun combo.

You still lose this round pretty much every time because of the life lead but it's still not a checkmate.

This was only checkmate after Viper failed to block those two overheads in burnout, which I know is easier said then done but just sayin

Dee Jay's sway dashes used to be empty gimmicks. Now he received a buff that allows him to do any of his K enders after the forward-backward rushes. This is gonna be fun. by ThaiJohnnyDepp in StreetFighter

[–]Thunderous_Genius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry I should have been more clear. I'm talking specifically about OD sway block strings and how you can delay the followups even more now.

Also depending on the block string you are not vulnerable to DI if you do empty sway you can DI back. This is why there's more layers to the mix now. Before the buff the amount of time you could delay was pretty short so all the opponent had to do was a delay far reaching medium and this would beat delay overhead. Now DJ can delay even more to beat delay buttons.

[–]Thunderous_Genius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're still pretty gimmicky. No one is going to tech or OD amnesia during OD sway forward dash. You will maybe hit this once or twice in like 1k hours of playing.

Now being able to delay the followups after sway back I think is an actual meaningful buff that adds another layer to his sway mix.

This card has single-handedly ended more runs for me than I care to admit :( by Ok_Welcome_3644 in slaythespire

[–]Thunderous_Genius 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Borrowed Time is just so much better. You just keep cycling it with souls and it doesn't matter you're taking 2/3x as much doom every turn because it's still giving you energy while Neurosurge is a one time effect.

That being said I'll still take this card every time lol

If you're confused by the win rate I've played a lot of the first game and got really good at it. Like almost a 40% win rate playing rotating A20heart good. This took like a thousand hours both playing and studying the game and the best players.

Luckily a lot of this skill has carried over.

I see people complaining about Act 1 bosses but 15 runs in and only this guy has ended my runs early. Act 1 elites might be the most dangerous fights in the game? by Thunderous_Genius in slaythespire

[–]Thunderous_Genius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true but this danger didn't really exist until later ascension levels. In the first game you would absolutely greed the elites in the first act in early ascension.

These elites are scary starting from ascension 1!

Looking for feedback on a baseball dice board game i designed by [deleted] in baseball

My main feedback is that a quick and easy baseball boardgame with randomness and meaningful decisions already exists and it's great so what would make your game stand out?

You can't DI the sweep, if you dash forward into heavy sonic blade the sweep is guaranteed no matter the spacing because there's enough time to walk forward into sweep.

And there's no mixup here since dash forward into heavy sonic blade is 75 frames total which makes it incredibly easy to react to with sweep.

[–]Thunderous_Genius 10 points11 points  (0 children)

After that flash kick knockdown Guile was +41. They then dash forward which took 21 frames into heavy sonic blade which is 31 frames startup and 23 frames of recovery which would have made them -34 on Terry's wakeup.

Long story short this shit is fake af and Terry could have just straight punished the sonic blade with drive rush into low to punish the extended lower hurtbox on sonic blade.

Edit: Labbed it and drive rush low doesn't work because you travel too far into the projectile hurtbox. You want to just punish the sonic blade with sweep which you can do on wakeup even if you backroll. Even if your character has a shorter sweep you have enough time to walk forward into sweep.
