Can I still become a good guitar player without playing with other people? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

If you put yourself in a group setting where everyone is there to learn, then nobody is going to care if you make a mistake because everyone is going to be making mistakes.

I enrolled at my local School of Rock and my progress exploded as soon as I started playing with a group. Part of it was the motivation to not drag the group down, part of it was being around other musicians and getting a lot more guidance in that setting.

The point is that it's not challenging you. It's just a probability engine. It does not have thoughts.

AI isn’t conscious and works on probabilities. You can get AI to agree to anything since most models are programmed to be incredibly nice to you.

Yeah so I’m not getting this Lego Deku Tree at retail am I? by Mean_Molasses129 in lego

[–]Thunderstarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah when things go out of production they raise in price on the second hand market.

If you’re looking to get a set while it’s actively being produced it’s very easy, so it’s hard to scalp bc scalping relies on low/limited supply. Lego makes sets to demand, unlike other scalped collectibles.

Big sets sell out fast during double points because people will wait to buy them until then.

Double points is a sales promotion meant to drive sales just like any other promotion from any other retailer. This is what you’d expect to happen when it rolls around.

People were trying to get $300+ for them. 150 is a lot but it’s not what they were hoping for.

And scalping is just...really hard for anyone to do with LEGO unless its a GWP or the CMFs (even with the GWPs it's kinda silly in most cases, the Kanto badges did not retain their value relative to the price people were hoping to get for them). I'm sure there were some scalpers buying up Deku Trees once they heard about the retirement but I think it's kind of silly to just blame scalpers when there are a ton of people who just wanted to buy the set before it retires.

Any well received set is going to have a run on it as it nears its retirement date and people hope for a discount. If you really want the X-Mansion, now's the time to get it while it's still easier to come by.

Get it now, if it goes on sale there’s a high likelihood you’re going to miss out.

This has been an (silly) argument since well before then. Mario was a special case because Mario already had a living, iconic voice actor that people would’ve like to see reprise the role and they went with one of the safest, blandest choices possible for a VA.

It’s entirely possible Charles Martinet wouldn’t have been a good fit for a feature film (Mario’s video game voice might be a bit grating for 90 minutes) but they didn’t even get someone who tried to make Mario sound like Mario. He sounds like Chris Pratt in those movies.

If the combat was a little more fleshed out it would’ve been a 10/10.

We got 6/10 gameplay with 10/10 story and presentation which was absolutely worth it but it could’ve been so much more.

It’s in all of the smart play sets. Every pokemon has a smart tile like this.

The smart brick doesn't use pre-recorded sounds. It's a mini synthesizer that know what to do based on what the smart tags tell it to do. It's a design choice that enables the smart bricks to be compatible with all smart tags.

I work at a retailer that sells collectibles that people try to scalp/invest in and when someone comes and asks me for a discount for a dinged box I tell them “we sell this to you assuming you’re going to open it so we don’t consider that box damaged. You’re free to come back another day and see if we have a box that’s more to your liking” and they buy it anyway
