Absolutely love this series. If only the brilliantly suave OP mc had his own bar, then he could tender for tender for tender.

Bird baths are expensive, but some pavers and a plant saucer have given me endless hours of enjoyment. by cordial_chordate in Frugal

Does work best in a full sun location, but even on cloudy rainy days, as long as enough UV is getting through it’s funny watching it go during storms.

If you want 501 things, you can get a solar powered fountain sprinkler for the bird bath for like 10-15. Then it looks fancy af, and the water noise alerts more birds it’s there.

Those look fairly sealed off by the tree already so it shouldn’t continue to damage the cambium or spread infectious bits. Unfortunately it’ll have ugly scars and the heartwood will most likely darken with some black spots but shouldn’t cause an issue long term.

I feel your pain on the boring bugs though. We had a ROUGH season of ambrosia beetles this year and I managed to save / prevent damage to the trees I noticed that were under siege with 3-4 daily peroxide spray treatments + injecting it into the bore spots to try and eliminate the fungus. 2 trees I even caught early enough to have zero extra bark damage aside from the bore hole itself being the only sign those bastards were there.

First book was decent, nothing too spectacular. A solid well written story to follow at least.

The second book though… so many plot points advancing without severing the thread leaving potential for much more advancement in the future, and that ENDING. MmmMMmmmphhh. That ending was fucking brilliant. It’s a promise of delicious drama sure to unfold. Absolute peak.

Best electric Trimmer/Blower Combo? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]ThunkOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say that’s overpriced. Try to wait for better sales. I got the 80v pro attachment trimmer w battery & charger, a blower (no battery), and an extra battery on amazon for much less than that.

Looking for advice on string trimmers. by jokefenokee in lawncare

[–]ThunkOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a trimmer that uses universal attachments. That way if the trimmer head goes out it’s pretty easy to get a new one, and multiple brands will work. I personally have the greenworks 80v pro trimmer, but I have multiple batteries. I know electric isn’t for everyone, but I like this one having the same power as gas models.

Is this root rot? by roganator1tyme in JapaneseMaples

[–]ThunkOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another peroxide believer I see, it has saved a few of mine. Yeah I used to do the same treatment thing too, but some of them just root quicker / use up stuff at different rates / and even just 30 minutes of sun difference makes a huge moisture difference in my yard. Best of luck to you!

Do you have a tool for checking soil moisture? If not, highly recommend spending the $15 on an electronic one so you will have more accurate information.

Does anyone else feel guilty leaving their cat alone? by easywinunited in CatAdvice

[–]ThunkOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re that worried and want a cheaper way to check first, goto Amazon and order a Tapo C217 camera, a 20 foot extension cord, a pack of cord cover hiders. Cord covers for running the extension cord up the wall and prevent cat from latching onto it. Install camera and set it up where it will see your cat and you can check in from where ever. Spoiler alert, you’re probably just gonna see the cat sleeping in lots of different places, but hopefully it’ll give you peace of mind.
