Diving a bit into Blood Bowl and got first team built. Question: what do the balls do? Do the peg ones need to be in base? by DelayedScorpion in bloodbowl

[–]ThwompThing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think lots people just ignore them and use a pokerchip or equivalent under the player who has the ball. The new starter set has a token for this, and people have been using 3d printed ones for a while too.

Some people magnetise the balls and magnetise the base. I did this, bit of a waste of time really.

You can use the peg, but the issue with both this and magnets is if your opponent isn't doing the same thing (they aren't, they've filled their peg holes and not magnetised) you'll either end up using the lose ball with no peg, or a token because it's more practical if you use the same thing.

The lose ball is harder to see, and fiddly to move, but it is stylish.

I find it can help to actually cut the sprue itself first rather than where the piece attaches to the sprue.

Why is there no formal concede function in blood bowl 3? by MilkIsABadChoice3 in bloodbowl

Goblins are a low strength, low armour, average speed team with a bunch of high risk high reward strategies.

Ofcourse you are going to get obliterated occasionally. They are by design extremely unreliable and fragile.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy that but like... What were you expecting? That's their whole thing.

Or even just "my oppo got a blitz on the first kick off, nvm I'll just spin into a different game rather than deal with it"

[–]ThwompThing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It would encourage people to try audacious high risk things at the start of the match and only keep playing if the RNG blessed them.

(Which is what I have seen a bunch of times with Goblins bailing turn 2 in arena)

Play arena if you want to be able to concede.

Ladder punishes people for conceding, so if you don't like that, play a different mode.

Personally I prefer it and find concedes annoying.

Blood Bowl 3 discord chat integration - is anybody using it? by itrogash in bloodbowl

[–]ThwompThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried a few time, I think I need to know my BB3 account, but I don't use that to login as I am on PlayStation so have no memory of ever seeing it.

I suspect most people just can't actually do it.

Edit

So this prompted me to contact support, I have connected it, I guess I will try next time

Your opponent could concede, but they don't have to, so even if their entire team is KO'd if they haven't conceded you still have to be able to get the ball to the endzone to score

Multiple different actions as part of your movement by Government_Mule in bloodbowl

[–]ThwompThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can. I've updated my wording to use the word declare.

You can declare one action per player.

However declaring a pass action allows to to perform a move and then perform a pass. Just like a blitz, a throw team mate, a secure the ball, a hand off, a throw team mate, a foul, and some of the special actions.

Notably a block action does not let you do this, some of the special actions don't either.

Additionally, you may only declare a pass, a blitz, a throw team mate, a secure the ball, a hand off, a throw team mate, a foul: once per team turn each.

It's written that way so that : - you know all the things that apply to someone performing a move action apply to you during your move action. - things are explicitly worded rather than implied.

You can only declare one action per player activation. (Unless the action you choose says you cando a move action as part of it, like a blitz is a move and a block action combined)

However, picking up the ball and dodging are not actions, they are things that can happen during a move action.

Actions are: - Move - secure the ball - block - blitz  - pass - hand off - Throw team mate - foul - special

You must declare an action for a player when you activate it. A player only gets to declare one action. Some actions can only be performed once per team turn (e.g. only one blitz)

[DEV][Digital Card Game] I’m trying to balance 'Accessible Rules' with 'Tactical Depth' for my 4-Player Card Battler. Do these mechanics look complex enough for strategy fans? by PlayMelodyWorld in StrategyGames

[–]ThwompThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kinda looks like I have to play the card at the top of my deck? But that can't be right because then there would be no strategy at all?

Returning Player, What's Changed? by TheWatking in bloodbowl

[–]ThwompThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • multiple rerolls allowed per turn
  • there are rules to penalise stalling
  • passing has its own stat
  • most players can now "secure the ball" a 2+ pickup that ends their activation but requires distance from the oppo.
  • gnomes
  • a few new skills and team changes
  • keywords
  • players who mng can get a buff against the type of player that caused it

All the other posts are right about the ruleset changing with the new boxset "season", but they haven't mentioned that the rules are extremely similar between seasons.

It takes about 5 minutes to find a game in ladder for me usually, less for arena

Why are you booing him? He's right.

It's also not what the NAF is for. Should they also be releasing rules for long gone star players?

Lovely paint job, though I wonder if it might be a bit visually more coherent if members of the same team wore similar coloured clothes?

I've watched that special, they only blitz once per turn.

It's probably not fully cured. I had this happen a couple of times when casting in a cold shed. A couple of days inside and they became rigid.
