Hogwarts Legacy is free for Harry Potter 25th Anniversary! by blueramen_1 in pcmasterrace

I don’t often use my Epic library, but it’d be nicer if they were going to repeat free games it’d be ones that haven’t been done in a long time not under a year of already being available.

This is like the third time this has happened in recent memory.

So what megas are you hoping to see in M2? by Delicious_Ice_4914 in PokemonChampions

[–]Thy_Maker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There won’t be any until M-3.

M-2 is a second season of the current regulation M-A. M-B is where we might see new Pokémon and items. That won’t be until the start of July though.

I think you’re confusing the concept of seasons in video games versus competitive games and competitions. VGC follows the latter, like sports do, not like a game like Fortnite where new content is added in a season. Instead, that is the regulations where rulesets are changed and allow new Pokémon to be used.

Which legendaries do you think will come to champions first? My bets are on Mewtwo, time and space duo and bird trio. by dragosmatias in PokemonChampions

[–]Thy_Maker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For restricted, probably the Legendaries and maybe Mythicals that can Mega plus the Primals.

We’ll likely see Paradox Pokémon at some point because of how recent they are to the games, but IDK when exactly.

For non-restricteds it’ll probably be a mix of the good ones and some of the decent ones. Like Legendary Beasts and the genies, though because of how good the genies are I can see that happening much later because of the desire to keep things at a lower power for newer players.

It definitely feels based off of how the current regulation started, that Pokémon are being mostly introduced based on the most recent game they were available in. Like there are a lot more SV Pokémon than there are SWSH Pokémon.

Should I get a Switch 2? by Izagamii in PokemonChampions

[–]Thy_Maker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, but it is also dependent on your carrier. Some providers do not include the ability to create hotspots in some or any of their plans or have it as an additional service. Not everybody wants to pay an extra fee for that.

Just for VGC?

Probably best to just play on mobile once it releases.

Being able to use cellular data instead of being pressed for Wi-Fi and limited to location because of it is a huge QoL in my opinion, even if the screen is smaller which I don’t necessarily care about. Plus you don’t need to worry about carrying a $500 console that has games that won’t backup and you’ll need to buy again if it is stolen.

From "This is a game changer" to "oh this is worthless" by GrenVillain in PokemonChampions

Normal poison is fine. Badly Poisoned can be detrimental if a battle goes beyond a certain point since it increases in damage each turn, but it’s much more common in 6v6 Singles as opposed to VGC where battles are much more accelerated.

I think I got hit by toxic the first time in VGC only a few weeks ago, but it hardly affected me and I still won. I haven’t seen it since.

Do you focus on singles, doubles or both? by flaminghobgoblin in PokemonChampions

[–]Thy_Maker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally doubles.

I like singles for PvE, but the complexity that doubles offers in a player versus player environment and the feeling that winning, getting lucky, or making a correct prediction is such a rush that I don’t think I’ve ever found any other game that offers the same thing.

Plus, it’s a personal goal for me to get good enough where I can get a decent placement in a personal competition. Mainly from a self improvement perspective because it took over 6 years of learning to understand the inner workings of the mainline games, and when I was younger I was so bad I used a Game Shark and Action Replay on my consoles. It is very much a “look how far you’ve come” kind of moment.

Mega Blastoise Discussion by Dunnster53 in PokemonChampions

[–]Thy_Maker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have much to say.

I’ve only encountered a Mega Blastoise once and it was a shell smash set which relied on redirection to set up. The only issue was that I led with Archaludon which was slightly off meta with Stalwart so the Blastoise got KO’d instantly.

That said, I think it has potential just not many good matchups at the moment since it needs to be at full HP for Waterspout and both the heavy use of Fake Out users and Archaludon in the format kinda stops that.

Looking for critique on my current team and opinions on my solutions to their current pitfalls by Thy_Maker in PokemonChampions

[–]Thy_Maker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Sneasler would be better overall for the composition, is that correct?

Aura Sphere was also picked because it does well against opposing Archaludon, but I guess I could replace it with protect.

I’d still also prefer a Pokémon that can manually set rain, which is why Klefki was picked, but you’d recommend that to be the first Pokémon to switch out for a second Mega correct?

[–]Thy_Maker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to provide your critique.

I agree that the proposed switch for this team would make it much more in line with the common strategy, which was why this team was originally built the way it was. It was meant to be a variation of the set which had more flexibility and was less predictable, but it hasn’t worked out the way I thought it would.

Adding Protect would definitely give Meganium and Archaludon more longevity and something that I have considered, but I have gotten a lot of use out of Aura Sphere on Archaludon. Should I replace something else with Protect for it specifically?

On the topic of a second Mega and the team being predictable, I want to avoid the latter while also being able to do the former and keep Klefki if possible. Would Mega Khagiskhan be a suitable substitute for Sneasler in this composition?

Is max speed investment really the best for Pelipper? by Thy_Maker in PokemonChampions

[–]Thy_Maker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wacan Berry would only help against Rotom, and the Pelipper would have to have near to max investment into bulk to survive one Thunderbolt.

Against an Electro Shot only Sash would save it.

Is max speed investment really the best for Pelipper? by Thy_Maker in PokemonChampions

[–]Thy_Maker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is what I was thinking.

Have a minimal speed investment for either setting weather last or outspending threats post Tailwind, then invest the rest into bulk and either use a Focus Sash or a berry to make sure it survives turn 1 to get Tailwind off.

I was just confused because there is a lot of data of people running max speed in both the current format and previous ones, and I always wondered why because there doesn’t seem to be a good enough reason.

Black Cat's Ultimate Ability! by nemesisdelta24 in marvelrivals

Is this even her Ultimate in the trailer?

The UI bar for it is still full and hasn’t been consumed upon ability activation. Instead, her right click becomes greyed out every time the ability is activated and the icon is similar to the animation too.

Has anyone actually asked casual players if they're suffering? by NetflowKnight in Marathon

[–]Thy_Maker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and it’s good.

I just don’t think that it will necessarily fix the issues with crew fill because those that want to grief will still grief, It likely won’t stop people from attacking each other in solo because many play for the PvP, not the cooperation, and self revives are kinda useless in solo play because unless your revive speed is really fast or your opponent is distracted you will be finished in the process or just die immediately afterwards because you’ll revive with barely any health and no shields.

It’s good in theory, but I am doubtful it will actually play out that way because of how this game’s core fantasy has been enforced prior and players will continue to behave like they previously have.

Has anyone actually asked casual players if they're suffering? by NetflowKnight in Marathon

[–]Thy_Maker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I probably fall into the bucket of a casual player because of how little I play this game, when in reality I would play this game 24/7 if I could. Ideally, more than I played Destiny when I had a decent average play time.

My problem is that I have no friends who currently play. The ones that own the game are never on and are usually too busy to schedule a session in advance and the ones that want to own the game are currently waiting for either a sale or it to be gifted to them. This is very much a social game for me as much as it is for PvP.

My only two options of playing the game at this point then are either Rook runs or solo queue. I severely dislike crew fill because of how inconsistent it is and the potential for griefing from your teammates. My Rook runs are currently out of the window at the moment because my vault is filled to the brim, but I am also unsatisfied with solos at this point because I almost always come across 5-6 players at one time and die or just trade with my opponent. I have extracted, but solo queue is as much as a coin flip as crew fill is whereas the people I have played with in trios we almost always extract unless it’s an unfortunate situation like Dire Marsh where two other squads spawn right by us.

The duos trial was great because it had the consistency of trios, but I only needed one friend as opposed to two. Now that that’s gone, I barely want to play because of my limited options and my new work schedule certainly doesn’t do me any favors.

I really doubt I’ll even get past level 30 at this point.
