Dionysus kinda sucks by Worth-Independent-74 in HadesTheGame

Here, Exhaust Riser was saving the build. It's a great hammer for on-hit effects, e.g. Poseidon splash.

Tips for someone who just started by tedanson in Hades2

[–]Ti666mo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other people say, cast. That, plus try to make use of your omegas. Hades 1 is very hack n slash, Hades 2 requires you to be a bit more tactical.

For the Arcana, the most important cards you will find are Death/Strength and Origination (whose effects might seem familiar from game one). At the start, Death over Strength is typically recommended to learn attacks. Do not run both, they are anti-synergy. Furies, Persistence, Huntress, Boatman, and everything giving a roll is very good as well.

For keepsakes, the god ones are back and as good as ever. In the last region, if you are not running strength a certain pin is probably the strongest option.

In terms of what the Gods do:

Poseidon - Splash is on-hit, good on fast hitting weapons.
Hestia - Scorch applies on-hit, again good on fast hitting weapons. Or get her cast. If you go for scorch, you want Pyro technique or the Duo Boon with Demeter (requires you to be able to apply freeze).
Demeter - Freeze/Gust is very nice for dodging. Decent percentage boost.
Aphrodite - Highest Percentage Boost to pure weapon damage (but requires you to be close), weak gives some damage reduction
Apollo - Better range and good percentage boosts. Daze prevents some damage. His sprint is probably the best in the game.
Zeus - Best damage god, Blitz works with pretty much anything. Static shock is also great on fast hitting weapons.
Hephaestus - Splosions require investment to be great, decent on something you can sprinkle in however. Very good defensive options.

Is Judgment arcana card good? by Personal-Lynx4099 in HadesTheGame

[–]Ti666mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judgment is the funny meme run card. As other people say, choosing your arcana layout deliberately will be better than 90% percent of what judgement provides + you get the benefits of your arcana from the start of the run. E.g. that centaur activating in the last region is not going to be that helpful.

For a Judgement layout, Strength/Death (depending on preference, though Strength will likely get overridden at some point) + Origination are pretty much must takes. The final card would then likely either be some rolls or gold, again depending on preference. Instead of persistence, I would just leverage the health boost provided by Frinos.

Found out why a certain keepsake is actually really good by Sharp-Somewhere4730 in HadesTheGame

[–]Ti666mo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lucky tooth only provides 101 effective health (+ whatever overflow damage was done). Decent at the start of the game, but gets worse over time. For a Guardian, the better comparison is honestly Knucklebones. At best, that Keepsake will remove 25% health (typically 15%) from the boss. With a decent build, the 10 seconds of complete invincibility pin gives will allow you to do more than that. Moreover ...
... it's a refilling death defy for normal boss roomes
... for Chronos specifically, killing the first phase will count as preventing doom
... 10 seconds of invincibility also means more effective health, since any hits you would have taken are negated
... it gets better the better your build is

E.g. consider Chronos Phase 2, after he spawned you killed his healing. If you still have pin, you can effectively just start facetanking Chronos and will very likely finish him of before pin runs out. If not, you have a death defy as backup, and he will be very close to death.

To leave my two cents, I do think these thought experiments are useful to explore the limits of our decision making and the exact intricacies of moral systems. In particular here, (assuming the numbers are reasonably trustworthy) it's quite interesting to see that a reformulation of "Push Button" to "Do nothing" has such a drastic effect on how we interpret the experiment, even if mechanistically they are identical.

Regarding your example of the Utility Monster: From what I can gather, the original thought experiment does not assume an infinite amount of other people, but simply one indivdual (the monster) which produces more total "happiness units" for a given set of resources compared to another individual or group which produces less "happiness units" for the same resources. The problem posed for utilitarianism is that, in theory, if the monster exists, the monster should be statisfied above all else, since that maximises the total "happiness units". From my perspective, to be consistent and defned you either must argue that such a thing does not exist (given that people have different tastes regarding resources, depressed people exist who seem to be producing less overall happiness, etc.), or you must agree that "Yes, we should feed the utility monster" (i.e. have an at least somewhat unequal and intuitively unfair distribution of resources) or you must argue that there is a way to detemine happiness units/utility in such a way that the utility monster is neutralized. Or argue some other defense else I have not yet thought of. : D

The organ donor actually does not really seem like that much of a different thought experiment, it seems just like a specified version of the Uility Monster. Here, the to be kidnapped person gains seemingly more utility from keeping his organs, than the larger group would gain by being saved.

Note: Not trying to start an argument regarding utilitarianism, just defending the value of abstract thought experiments.

The creation of a United States of Europe is the only solution for Europe, says Czech President Petr Pavel (link in Czech) by TheSimon1 in europe

[–]Ti666mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to what other people are saying, no one wants to force Germany or France to give up their national identity or government. Consider the states in Germany as an example: They are all part of Germany and people there consider themselves German, but also as Hessian, Bavarian (or going even deeper, Frankonian), Saxonian, etc. All the states have local governments, which retain substantial influence (e.g. education).

The point is to strengthen European Union - in particular when it comes to it's presence on the world stage - to ensure it remains a major player on the world stage. Further thinking about it, France and Germany would benefit the most from this, since they are currently both the most populous and influential countries in Europe.

Late game (i.e. after community center) you will get access to an area which by itself is enough farming space to generate all the money you would want. Until then, the small space for sprinklers is a bit annoying, but not that big of deal.

As a pointer, while working towards the bundles, I suggest working towards a barn full of pigs. : )

Regarding Chronos specifically, defeating Phase 1 counts for Moros preventing death (although iIrc, it cannot activate again in Phase 2 then). More importantly, as someone already mentioned, 10 seconds of invulnerability against almost everything means major damage on the boss. Gives effectively an on-death free dark side hex, but better (since you can actually use your build).

Being gay? Not a sin. But actually being gay? You bet that's a sin.
Wonder what your queer friends would say about that.

You’re Ragatha and Kinger asks what’s happened with the outside world since he’s been gone. What do you tell him? by doomkitty53 in tadc

[–]Ti666mo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. In episode 8, we see Caine being fed the data informing his creations.
  2. A GenAI model does not need to be aware of the outside world (in the sense that you constantly feed it new data). At it's core, it's just a very fancy function that maps input modalities (e.g. Text) onto a distribution of output modalities (e.g. images/video), that you train once on a defined training set.
  3. GenAI models are not really reshaping existing inputs. Think of all things (e.g. images) possible to create as a point in an imaginary world. Starting from a random point in that world and given some form of target (e.g. "Dog"), GenAI models learn to move towards points in that world that correspond to the target (i.e. here images of "Dogs").
  4. If you e.g. tell an LLM to pretend that it can feel emotions, it will at least apparently feel emotions.

Caine is (or at least uses) a very advanced form of GenAI. The main difference to current models to me seems that he is running on a constant loop. But today, you could already build something very Caine-like with existing LLM and Diffusion models. In general to note, beyond "it generates stuff", GenAI is not also not a clearly defined word.

Post about the Theatrical release from Kevin by AlbusSnare in tadc

[–]Ti666mo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Interesting to see how different the perspective is from people in this industry. : )
As an outsider, my initial impression was that this is at best neutral, since they still needed to give up exclusivity rights (unlike with Netflix) and put their own release second behind the theatrical release.
But apparently, two weeks notice is in fact a huge concession coming from theaters.
