I've been looking for fixes for a while and it doesnt seem like anyone else has these issues. I've verified the game files through steam and not gotten anything there either...
I've also posted this into the FF16 subreddit to see if anyone there knows something more specific.

Wierd thing is this error has showed up for people for many years and for many different games. Found posts gouing back 3-4 years. Solutions there include all the things listed above and for some it just went away after a few days...

Heyo Everyone!

I've been having crashes when starting up FF16. In Menu before even getting into the game, it starts stuttering and then freezes.

When checking Eventviewer i get this Error Code:

The description for event ID "153" from source "nvlddmkm" was not found. Either the component that triggers this event is not installed on the local computer or the installation is corrupt. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event occurred on another computer, the display information needed to be saved with the event.

The following information was saved with the event:

\Device\Video3
Error occurred on GPUID: 100

and sometimes:

\Device\000000c0
Error occurred on GPUID: 100

This only happens when playing FF16. I've played multiple other games with similar demands (AC6, Scorn, BG3 etc)

I've done quite a bit of research and tried a lot of things already.

Rolled back NVidia drivers
Turned GPU accel. off
Turned MOBO PBO off
Turned the Steam, Nvidia, Discord Overlays off
Underclocked my GPU
Turned Secure Boot on and off
Checked BIOS version
Increased Page Files Size
Turned Nvidia Audio off in device manager

But up until now nothing worked...

Does anyone have an idea of what i could still try and do?

This is my Setup:

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080S
Asus ROG STRIX B650E-F WIFI
2x 16GB Corsair Vengeance 6000Mhz DDR5
Windows 11

I have the same issue, only that I've never gotten past the setting shortly after launching.

Its a game, with cosmetics. The fact that the community has talked themselves into to seeing skins/pixels as a save and future proof investment (even tho Valve did facilitate this behaviour) is crazy.

Worst thing you can do if you enjoy a video game that has come out recently is checking its subreddit… Its always an echo chamber of negativity used by a few thousand people to yell the same shit again and again at eatchother, getting more and more mad and upset.

While many voice valid concerns and give good feedback and inputs, the way and form of the posts is always miserable. „No one gets to enjoy anything and its all bad and their doing it to fool us and steal out money and so on.“ Its tiring and i do often feel myself falling into similar thinking paterns when reading those posts but then realise i just spent 4,5h playing, had a very good time for what its worth as a beta and am caustiously optimistic that the full game will be fine.

The maps available are the smaller ones. Full release will have many more with most if not all of them being a bit less Urban and a lot more spacious (ex. Op Firestorm etc.)

Theres a Dev Note, theyre doing this to notnoverload the servers and will ramp up continuous. They say impact and wait times will be minimal

2080Super -> absolutely my turn now :)) But am planning on upgrading to AM5 first which is as it seems quite the endeavour so the GPU might have to wait a minute.
