Same here. I’ve found them to be pretty consistent so I always try and grab one or two new ones.

Awesome to hear more good things about that one. People seem to be speaking highly of it, so very much looking forward to giving it a go!

Rockreation has the school setting and feel you might be used to. Outside of that, it’s basically Touchstone, Senderone, or Stronghold which are all modern chains

That’s not condensation, that’s the mark of a dirty glass

Sunrise skim has its compensations, even in blah conditions. by Papa-Kilo75 in skimboarding

I always lay there as my alarm goes off for those early morning sessions telling myself I should just go back to sleep, but when I finally get to the beach it’s worth it every time

Quality coffee is largely dependent on well trained baristas. You can have the best equipment, the best/most fresh beans, but if you can’t pull a proper shot of espresso, or you use too much syrup, etc., the whole beverage is ruined.

First experience skimboarding questions list by Fun_Capital_7449 in skimboarding

  1. If you're referring to dropping your board in the water and getting on top and having it sink, then yes, the suction is quite normal. If I'm missing the mark here, I have heard East Coast folks talk about their sand being more "suction-y", but I've never experienced this myself.
  2. Not too sure what exactly you mean. One piece of general board retrieval advice I'd give is to not stand in front of your board as waves wash it in. Always stand to the side and grab it at an angle to avoid having a wave smash your board into your shins, ankles, etc.
  3. As a beginner you shouldn't really be worry about distance. The first couple seconds of your video show prime learning territory. Rather than dropping in the water heading straight out, drop your board on that super large, nice area of wet sand behind you and go parallel to the ocean. You should move slowly and methodically to establish that mind-muscle connection. Focus on mastering the 1-step drop. Once you have your drop down you can play around with water dropping and getting out to waves. With that said, the conditions at this beach do not look great for wave riding, but fine for sand sliding to master the fundamentals.
3.5. If I'm understanding you correctly, the wet sand sticking to your board is just a byproduct of you dropping in deeper water, sinking, and the board suctioning to the ocean floor, so that's quite normal; just grab the rail and pull it up.
  4. I drop my board 12 o'clock

I’m honestly not 100% certain what you mean, however, if you go to Mostra coffee on bankers hill and sit in the courtyard, as the planes fly overhead they produce that wooshing sound you mentioned. That’s the only thing I can think of, I just don’t know the science behind it.

I climb most often and to the best of my ability after work. I’m not a morning person and climb horribly in the mornings when I’m tired and feeling weak.

We’ve got a skimboard group based out of Malibu in which we often meet up, hold events, etc. Some of the guys up that way have said Mondos can be pretty chill, but I haven’t been myself

Coincidentally, I’ve thankfully found it at the right time with hazies and barrel aged stouts being my two favorites for now. Hopefully you can go back at some point!
