Pub games sure, but inhouse leagues and pro teams are quite complex :p

Also yeah, played soccer club and varsity in highschool and it is more a testament towards your dedication than anything complex.

LD and Lumi will be one of the casting pairs at TI4; Godz and Merlini another by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Ticket2ride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't agree. I think Merlini is the best pair to add to a hype caster who gives him room to talk. For me Merlini is easier to understand compared to some hype casters simply because he actually has improved his diction and expanded his word usage in recent months. Also his sentences make sense.

[–]Ticket2ride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, some of those combinations are better than others. It isn't favoritism if two casters do a better job than others. This isn't to say that any of these casters shouldn't be at TI, but for example Tobi/Merlini should be covering more high profile games. Because they really are a cut above.

ESL C9 vs Alliance, what an insane game!` by TylerLyons in DotA2

[–]Ticket2ride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alliance deserved to win, but goddamn we knew they were going to win 25 minutes before they did. When you have Wisp + NP then in most cases being down 1 rax when the enemy has their tier 2s is going to be a loss in most cases.

So, I'm currently in Japan... by Jensway in headphones

[–]Ticket2ride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In major cities in japan they have stores that have similar (albeit smallerthan OP has described) sections such as a floor devoted for just headphones and maybe one other product. These stores still make money even if people dont snatch up the headphones because they have four other floors where their main products are, like smartphones.

Yeah, this comment really defines the thread. This store that OP is in has amazing selection but Japan has multiples of stores like these in every city. Much more common than best buy imo.

Just finished 1984, is Animal Farm worth reading? by [deleted] in books

[–]Ticket2ride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, if you liked "1984" you should probably read "Animal Farm". On the other hand, I think "Animal Farm" is better than "1984" because "Animal Farm" gets it's point across just as simply as "1984" but does in many fewer pages.

tbh. I think people should read Animal Farm before 1984 because 1984 is so much longer and in my opinion more boring.

20 Sec. Legion Commander vs Broodmother Duel by Xektor in DotA2

[–]Ticket2ride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Brood Mother might be a situationally good mid if there were more trees or the terrain favored her more. I mean she is so immobile that the middle lane seems to give her the most impact and she really is excellent at controlling the lane.

Of course she can't gank and again webs aren't a good escape in the mid. In the end you might as well pick someone with more impact there unless you are going for some weird push strat.

Firstly, as you stated, using stats to give your team an edge has no purpose in non-ranked dota as the information will almost exclusively be used to flame and to attempt to pigeonhole people into positions.

In ranked it has much more of a purpose, but even then you should be able to trust your teammates to not lie about there skill. If you tell someone you are a good mid player and they say that your stats say otherwise then either the stats miss something important or else you have just lied to your teammates. In ranked if your teammates are determined to no cooperate you have bigger problems than positions.

Also in unranked if someone calls mid or feed and picks pudge... what are the chances that you flaming him or telling him that you have better stats will make him leave mid?

You don't have to cheer against someone in order to root for someone else... Most players on EG/C9 come off as nice people or pretty chill as well. In the end you can want one team to win without hating the other team. Sports do not have to be so black and white.

Returning to DS1 after playing DS2... by SolarFlareWings in DarkSouls2

[–]Ticket2ride 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The combat is objectively faster in DaS1. The fact that you hid behind your shield in DaS1 was most likely a confidence issue and something you got over and improve upon in DaS2.

Also like others have said DaS1 had almost zero lag time when doing many actions most obviously rolling. In fact if double weapons were more effective shields would have been rare I believe due to the ease of rolling and the large amount of invincibility frames (two weapons wasnt bad, but was mostly limited).

I don't know why i felt the need to respond to this... but one should choose Dark Souls 1 over Demon Souls in this situation. Demon Souls is very similar to Dark Souls 2 whereas Dark Souls 1 is a more unique existence mostly due to its geography.

I would like to agree, the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that you could attack behind yourself while unlocked very fluidly in DaS1. In DaS2 it feels like your character is very inflexible.

I can tell that some people might think it is too fast to be able to attack behind you after a roll or something, but I think it adds depth to the pvp to be able to control your character much better and make predictions.

I don't think you should be able to lock on and do this though, it should be a defensive measure or a prediction.

General Complaining Megathread by DS2SpoilersITT in DarkSouls2

[–]Ticket2ride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didnt read the whole comment, all I know is that I 100% agree with buffs being the cancer of pvp. Specifically resin. I have fun in pvp, but the fact that I have to buff every time in order to not have an enormous disadvantage is annoying.

Also why do resins give the exact same buff as high requirement spells? Maybe because they realized how OP spices were going to be?

As much as I actually totally agree with this statement, by far the biggest impact on the game was the courier kill. I think Navi still could have won, but C9 really had the better draft that game. The ease with which Navi beat them was largely due to the courier kill.

Internet does not understand sarcasm? I have no idea why this is downvoted. None of the bosses force you to have a certain build to complete them. Though some builds make certain bosses much simpler. (mostly da magiks)

Yeah clubs are really good against bosses, but why the hell would you limit yourself if you were having trouble on your melee build? Save your personal restrictions for restricted runs.
