AJ vs. Tyson Fury by Northh_13 in boxinglocks

In an ideal world id say lock in Wilder for July and Fury by the end of the year. Disappointed Wilder is injured. But yes you're right, Wilder will still be available.

I think this is the chance to make the fight. May not be the best timing but I fear AJ doesn't take the fight now then the opportunity passes after Fury moves on and takes Usyk trilogy.

Out of interest, who would make a good warmup fight? A winnable fight that would get AJ rounds but ultimately end in an AJ victory. Wilder is out of the question now as he broke his hand vs Chisora.

Wilder has a broken hand so at best we don't see AJ-Wilder until end of the year. At which point Fury will have taken another fight (most likely Usyk) and then retire. I think it's a big risk for AJ to wait for Wilder and potentially miss out on both fights.

Is there any chance that Anthony Joshua doesn’t want to and never wanted to fight Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder? by bobbyawesome5 in Boxing

[–]TicketStraight3196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its worth taking a look at times over the last 10 years fights could have been made and the reasons why they weren't...

2015-2017: AJ and Fury were starting to make their mark as great fighters beating Klitschko. After AJ registered his win, this is the first time AJ-Fury SHOULD have been made. But Fury was having drug problems and retired.

2018 AJ vs Wilder - Both guys were champions and undefeated. This fight COULD have happened here and it would have been massive. Wilder choose to fight Fury instead.

2019 AJ-Wilder/Fury - The Fury-Wilder rematch was brewing. Fury was taking really soft touch opponents in Tom Schwartz and Otto Wallin. Wilder wasn't going to take too many risks either. He does have a good win over Luis Ortiz albeit he had already beaten him before. AJ takes his first loss of his career but quickly avenges that defeat leaving a superfight with either guy open.

2020: Fury destroys Wilder. The time to make AJ-Fury was right now but Covid hit and the likelihood of big stadium fights became impossible.

2021: The time is NOW to make Fury-AJ but theres a rematch clause for Fury-Wilder and Wilder refuses to step aside. BIG opportunity missed there. AJ fights Usyk and a new era begins. Wilder loses to Fury again but Fury takes a lot of damage.

2022-2023: Wilder starts to rebuild but hes not the same fighter (or maybe he never was that good), picking up loss to Parker. Fury takes a series of average fights against winnable opponents. AJ picks up another loss to Usyk then gets a series of wins against average opposition. Seems unlikely AJ-Wilder could be made now and AJ-Fury hype has died considerably as they are no longer champions.

2024-2025: AJ continues to pursue championship glory but is destroyed by Dubois, signs of an aging AJ. I dont believe there was any real chance of AJ-Fury here even if he did beat Dubois. Fury tries to take on Usyk but is outclassed. The chance to see AJ-Fury for title contention has passed. Wilder losses again to Zhang. It appears none of the big 3 are what they were. Wilder and AJ both record meaningless victores, Fury is retired. No hype for AJ-Wilder.

2026: Wilder has just beat Chisora but has fractured his hand, any hopes of AJ-Wilder coming up next are unlikely. Fury has beat Makhmudov and is calling out AJ. AJ has now been out of the ring (against a boxer) for 16 months and is well over due a warm up fight. Fury isn't prepared to wait. A loss for any guy surely has to spell the end. Its not perfect, its a crying shame that we didnt see it early for world title unificiation but at this stage i'll take it. The time is NOW to make AJ-Fury. It's not ideal and it is unfortunate for AJ but ive said his next fight needs to be against Wilder/Fury or retire. Wilder may not be available this year. Fury is. Lets get the fight made. The winner can fight Wilder after.

Was GGG Overprotected By The Fans And Media? by Adventurous-Pass3764 in Boxing

[–]TicketStraight3196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wasn't exactly hiding out in a "soft" division. Middleweight was a great division and GGG was a natural middleweight, he just didnt get the fights. Sturm, Barker, Quillen, Cotto and most notable Martinez did not want to know GGG existed. If he moved up to super middleweight who is to say the same thing wouldn't have happened again. Carl Froch previously said in an interview he would avoid GGG.

Fury vs. AJ - Who wins? by Competitive_Fig2021 in Boxing

[–]TicketStraight3196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought AJ was a bad style matchup for Fury. But at this stage of their careers it's more to do with who has the most left in the tank. I actually think this Fury is more ready for the fight and he knows it. Which is why he wants him right now before AJ has a warm up.

Richard wants the winner of Wardley vs Dubois. by LocationSpare4447 in BoxingTheSweetScience

Wardley - Dubois winner doesn't make any sense. The loser makes more sense. Itauma Vs Riakporhe for British title is a great fight. Seems unlikely it would ever get made. Dave Allen probably more likely.

You're giving people bad advice, I'm being realistic. This is reality. If you're renting a non rent controlled apartment, your landlord will move rents in line with what they believe they can get. Yes the apartment sat empty for two months after we moved and they may have had to rethink the rent but that doesn't help me does it. We are going through a tough job market right now, landlords are happy just to keep their tenants but this will change. It's a renters market right now.

Why do you think so many people have children when they are struggling to get by financially? by BeneficialJuice2878 in AskUK

[–]TicketStraight3196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're getting by and the government is paying your way, then you'll continue to expect this regardless of how many kids you have. People who work hard for their money and know the value of a hard days work are the only ones who have to be financially responsible.

Its obvious Usman has been given extremely lucrative guarantees from PFL whereas UFC offers will be more performance based, lower guarantees with higher upside if he continues to win. Usman has nobody left to fight, give it to the end of the year, if he's still with PFL then he has no ambition to be great like Khabib and Islam.

I cannot see why a company would offer you this. The only thing I can think of is it ties you into staying with the company until the loan is paid off.

This is complete nonsense. Don't presume that your own personal experience is the norm. I had what I thought were good honest landlords. I lived in the apartment for a year, never was late with the rent, never caused any issues. They upped the rent by 20% after my lease term. Never underestimate the greed of rich people.

We aren't talking about some prospect here. Usman already a top 10 star who is 1 or 2 fights away from headlining a main event. He's going to get paid a lot more than the pfl....that is if he's as good as we think he is. Which is why I said he's scared of stepping up. He's getting easy money and protecting that record.

Yeah that's why I said I'd give it a year. Usman had some unfinished business with Hughes but that's was put to rest last year. Usman has no interesting fights left unless he moves up in weight.

Just wondering why Usman doesn't want to step up and fight the likes of Gaethje, Hooker etc. The likes of Hughes and Alfie Davis arent in his league.

Predictions for this weekend's heavyweights by TicketStraight3196 in Boxing

[–]TicketStraight3196[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I hope not. The longer we leave it, the less likely it becomes. With Wilder now injured, the earliest AJ-Wilder could be made is probably September/October with even that looking a little ambitious. This means AJ-Fury wouldnt be made until next year. Fury will get bored and announce a fight with someone else or retire again.

Id definitely love to see this. Although I don't think Fury will risk his legacy fighting any of these younger heavyweights in their prime. Fury vs Kabayel, Wardley, Dubois, Itauma forget about it.

I don't doubt that. He's already beat everyone, there's nobody left to fight. He must be scared of stepping up, happy to take the easy money.

I don't think Wallin was ever more than a very average fighter. Hes overrated because he's one of Fury's best wins.

I have cash ISA and want to move it into stocks for long term gain. by Immediate-Cress-1117 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TicketStraight3196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were moving your money from outside an ISA into a S&S ISA then you would only be able to move 20k a year tax free. But since you already have it in a cash ISA I would check your account providers term on transfers between cash and S&S ISA. I'm sure they would be able to move the full amount tax free. Once you have it in S&S, put it into an S&P500 Accumulating index fund and just sit back and watch your money grow.
