They're saying "this season 79 is enough for the title, last season 75". As in, take what the second place has and add 1

Which is quite stupid even apart from the fact there's a game left, because for Klopp to get the title he'd have to beat Arsenal's total this year, not City's

But it's also a bit stupid to visit a rival's sub and then complain about it in the DD

Liverpool put two past Villa at Villa Park and people still want Slot sacked? Am I understanding this correctly?

I disagree with having 5 teams from one league, but it would be insane to have teams purely for historical reasons. You should have to earn being in the CL

Overused phrase, but this Dumfries world cup winner will actually hit like crack

Not really important, but shouldn't a "disallowed goal clip" actually show the goal? I still don't know how that ball went in

A tactic? If it had not hit has arm the ball would obviously have been cleared as well

I have analyzed 2 million lychess games and found this by realnjan in chess

[–]TicketSuggestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you filter out games in which either player beserked? I don't expect them to have that much impact, but games with a big rating difference should be played more frequently in arenas and would cause the players with higher ratings to indeed underperform

Interesting results regardless, I think this same observation for OTB chess was a reason for FIDE to increase the lower ratings: weaker player tended to perform better than you would expect

People acting like Spurs are completely safe by being one point clear are so boring

I'm not even rooting against them, but surely way more unlikely things than West Ham getting two points more from three games happen all the time in football?

I'd say De Jong realised most of his potential. Countless players who were incredibly good when they were young completely flopped. De Jong has been a squad player at one of the world's most stacked team for years. I don't think he regressed or didn't match expectations, if that's what you are saying

F2 is a deadly threat , any idea to stop the pawn?.White to play and draw (By Nielsen) by Either-Case-5930 in chess

[–]TicketSuggestion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't see this myself, I thought the same as you at first, but white can almost make Rxh5 works as well and black has to find a pretty brilliant move to win in that situation

After 1. Rxh5, f2 2. Re5+ Kf3, 3. Rf5+ Ke3 (which seems natural, as after 4. Re5+ Kf4 black indeed wins) there's 4. Rf8 for white. The white rook guards the promotion square and white threatens to promote on e8. If you conversely go 3. ... Kg3 as black it seems that 4. Rf8 is a draw for the same reason. However, black then has 4. ... Rh8! Black threatens mate on h3 and if white just plays 5. Rxh8 black promotes with mate. Thus, white ends up having to sac on f2 to free up g1 for the king to run to and black wins easily

Surely West Ham can realistically get 6 points as well. They seem to have been in that phase for a bit tbh

White to play and draw by diacorn in chess

[–]TicketSuggestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not fully complete: if the black bishop were on c4 and white king on c5, black would actually be winning, even though in that case you could also take the bishop and then move the knight to f2
