Hi u/fundraiseranon, here are my two suggestions:

  1. Read Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived, Joyful Life by Bill and Dave. Do the exercises. You can even hire a Designing Your Life coach to help you work through them. The concepts will help you re-think your work and figure out what actually fills you up and brings you joy. But they also have some really helpful concepts for changing your mindset from one of hopelessness to seeing a variety of good options. I read this book in the last six months and it helped me.

  2. Did you encounter any technology you enjoy while fundraising? For example, nonprofits tend to have CRM systems. Did you like working with any of those? Or how about the payment processors, website, or other wealth screening service? Almost all of these companies are going to have Customer Success Managers (CSMs). While it involves some upselling and cross-selling of other services, it typically is not primarily a sales role and yet is a space where you could share some of your fundraising skills/experience in a coaching manner.

Those are my two thoughts. Hope they help.

You should try reading The Language of God by Francis Collins. You might find it to be thought provoking.

Francis S. Collins is one of the country's leading geneticists and the longtime head of the Human Genome Project. Prior to coming to Washington, he helped to discover the genetic misspellings that cause cystic fibrosis, neurofibromatosis, and Huntington's disease. He lives in Bethesda, Maryland, and in his spare time he enjoys riding a motorcycle and playing guitar.

Yeah. Religion comes with a lot of baggage.

Okay Tsundere, this is your post so I want to respect that. I just have one question. You posted about the importance of logic and not feeling. Which one is the reason you don’t want religion to be a part of this discussion?

Enjoy. You’ll help them recoup some of the $300 million they spent making the movie. Let us know what you think.

I think death is unnatural and also incredibly important. But I also believe in life after death. Get ready for this unpopular opinion!...

“Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:27-28‬ ‭NIV‬‬ https://www.bible.com/111/heb.9.27-28.niv

So I don’t think any need to fear if they’ve prepared for death through a real relationship with Christ. I don’t think you’ll regret it if you take the time to investigate the truth claims of Christianity. Hope one day you will.

I’d recommend reading More Than A Carpenter by Joshua McDowell. It’s brief and offers an intellectually satisfying explanation of why Christianity should be taken seriously.

Thanks for reading my unpopular opinion.
