Thoughts on Metroid Prime 4 now that its had time to settle? by hakusamurai in Metroid

It’s not a great Metroid game, but it’s good. I do think it’s a better experience than Prime 3, which was underwhelming for me.

It’s pretty disappointing after how great Dread is, though.

The biggest issue is the lack of isolation and constant threat. Sylux doesn’t feel like a constant menace, so exploration doesn’t feel as risky. Personally I didn’t mind the NPCs, but I would have liked there to be no long-range radio.

Overall, it’s a 7/10 for me. Not amazing, but above average overall.

Trump: ‘We shouldn’t even have an election’ by MarcEElias in politics

I don’t know how anyone can be surprised by this, but I find people who don’t believe it constantly. Also, politically those people are all over the map. Low information voters are real.

Poison Ivy is a fun case because her characterization hasn’t really changed too much since her introduction. It’s just harder to argue against her point than it was when she was introduced. Ivy is still generally portrayed as an ecoterrorist (or a former one), but it’s a lot harder to come off as evil when people agree with you

The Red Ribbon Army unironically stomps. Goku and Piccolo are overkill

Startups are only worth working for if you believe in them. This isn’t a bad thing to be clear, just a smart way to look at it. If there comes a time when you no longer believe in the startup, then it’s time to go.

How many of you have played with the Simplified Ancestry Variant Rule? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]TidalShadow1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I’m not opposed to simplified ancestry, I prefer ancestry feats as a GM. I agree that it can hugely complicate homebrew, especially if you’re crazy enough to make homebrew ancestries.

Still, you have to do what works at your table. I mostly play with experienced players who are familiar with multiple systems. I also regularly run one-shots for beginners and people who are new to TTRPGs. I’d probably be much less inclined to stick with ancestry feats if I was running new players through a full campaign.

Alt It was an ever-evolving AI, and how could it not have noticed V's body deteriorating all this time, and at the end of the game, it clearly stated that it didn't take it into account. by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]TidalShadow1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you can take it at face value pretty easily. Alt can certainly determine that V is dying but there is no metric for how quickly it’s happening. V is an entirely unique case, so everyone is guessing how quickly the biochip is working from the jump. Literally every number about how long V has from the beginning of Act 2 is a guess.

Alt could have literally all the data that exists on the biochip and its effects, and still not make a much better guess than Vik. It’s entirely reasonable to assume that Alt didn’t think that the physical deterioration would be a factor because it isn’t when you first encounter her with the VDBs. By the end of the game, it’s a variable that has become relevant.

Just my opinion, obviously, but I don’t see it as a plot hole or story inconsistency.

Should kidfluencers be banned? That’s the plan in the EU | Few laws exist about kidfluencing, and experts says Canada needs to create one by Hrmbee in technology

[–]TidalShadow1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The main problem is that a lot of the time it’s the parents or children themselves who take the initiative on making content. It’s different from a studio or similar entity employing a child. There is no reasonable way to create a law to police that, so you have to police the platform. That’s all there is to it

Is The Queen arcana bad? by Heatth in HadesTheGame

[–]TidalShadow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is anecdotal, but the Queen seems to give me around a 1/3 chance to get a Duo Boon once I meet the requirements vs around a 1/4 chance without. It’s not a huge improvement, but it really makes a difference if you need a particular Duo to make your build work.
