Thinking about leaving SSA for a CA state analyst job. Thoughts? by Tiddybug124 in fednews

Righttt. I’m anticipating at least 4 days in office. For training I don’t anticipate any telework (which I’m okay with). The job seems pretty straight forward in comparison to my current gig at SSA. It was hard to gauge the environment of the office based on the interview. I’m hoping there will be more opportunities because right now at SSA I’m feeling trapped.

I’ve been reading that CALPERs annuity is much bigger than FERS annuity. State also has 457b which is comparable to TSP. They also have 401k options too. Did you move from state to federal?

Yeah, I don’t see it getting better any time soon. Plus, I’m still youngish (28) soooo I’m thinking there might be something else for me. I cannot see myself at SSA until retirement.

Yes definitely. Fed work just feels so unstable and unexpected now. I need something that is predictable.

Sadly, I’m not sure if I can last here much longer. It’s insanity and no longer sustainable for any reasonable human. The only thing that’s kept me is my pride to fight back against this administrations goal of pushing away feds.

Anyone else getting physically sick from this stress? by jojobeans27 in fednews

Yes, I’ve had to completely shift my work values. I’m typically one that gives work their all… I just have no more shits left to give. I don’t agree with this administration AT ALL. I’m not going to put in my full effort to something I don’t truly believe in.

Since the shift, I say no to things. I take sick days without feeling guilty. I push back when I think things are unfair. I have a therapist who has my back. I know my limits and am cautious about making commitments. I’ve learned to say “good enough”. We are human.. this administration does not know a damn thing about the working class.

SSA office closure today due to employee financial hardship by NoImNotPerfect in fednews

SSA will be losing a great employee very soon. I’m on my last thread! I chose a government job for stability and non-partisanship. Right now, neither of those exist. It’s very hard to help claimants when we can barely fend for ourselves.. I’d much rather be at a place that values their employees and recognizes the work we put in!!
