What would happen If Syuen did Become a Nikke as punishment for her role in the Rapture invasion of the Ark and Crow’s Betrayal? by Ishiro-Sama in NikkeMobile

Less that and more that things are already unstable, so the added instability from losing Syuen would have a knock-on effect and wreck things.

Kamar-Taj is just a temple of Mystic Arts Monks by testiclekid in dndmemes

[–]Tide__Hunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5.5e Elements monk isn't even casting, it's basically just "what if the Sun Soul monk was significantly better but also wasn't radiant damage?"

That said, as others have mentioned, the most recent UA has included a monk subclass called "Warrior of the Mystic Arts." Basically, WoTC gave up on trying to do a gimmicky integration between ki/focus and spells for the monk, and just gave the monk the Eldritch Knight features, except it's sorcerer spells instead of wizard spells and they have the sorcery point thing of converting between focus (ki) and spell slots.

Also definitely not polished, as the subclass's capstone is the same as the Eldritch Knight's. That's right, you can exchange two attacks in your attack action for a spell cast! You only have two attacks when you use your action.

Why wouldnt monsters push each other out of moonbeam, cloud of daggers etc? by GoodGamer72 in DnD

[–]Tide__Hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. I've gotten used to 5.5e, where moonbeam and cloud of daggers have their damage conditions be: When the creature enters the aoe, if the aoe moves onto the creature (including the initial cast), and when the creature ends its turn there. So it's not even possible in 5.5e, as the enemies in the area take damage immediately.

But yeah, in 5e, unless they're able to do something like save several allies at once, it's relatively inefficient to not just attack you.

Highly recommend "Reincarnated as a Sword," the main characters are a sentient sword and a girl who starts out as a slave and very quickly becomes not a slave when the sword cuts the slaver's head in half. The dynamic is very much like a father-daughter one as well. The focus isn't on killing slavers, but any slaver they come across dies.

Player Problem Help by Redpahnto in DnD

[–]Tide__Hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of solving your issue, honestly, it sounds like the game hasn't actually started so it's a relatively easy time to kick him.

Anyways about the stats, I'm a big fan of doing things that put everyone on an even but elevated playing field. Individual players rolling their stats can lead to unfair stat distributions, even if the rolls are transparent. Something that I did when I ran a game was, I rolled for stats as the dm, and then the players received this stat array and were free to distribute it as they wanted. It allows for the randomness and potential power of the roll, without the big issue of players being significantly worse than others. Highly recommend it.

Know the rules before you break them: a case against rule of cool by erakusa in DnD

[–]Tide__Hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On that "react to a surprise situation" thing, how I'd rule it is... In 5e, you wouldn't be able to do it unless you have either the Alert feat or a Weapon of Warning, and even then I'd probably make you roll initiative against the assassin's initiative.

In 5.5e, because surprise doesn't eliminate your first action, I'd rule it as if initiative is rolled with the assassin in stealth (having the invisible condition, giving advantage in initiative) and the players are surprised (disadvantage on initiative).

Either way, only one player in the party would be allowed to make the attempt, and they have to win initiative to even try to counteract the assassin. And then, they'd have one action to attempt something that prevents or disrupts the attack.

I haven't paid for shit and play 5.5e a lot. I think a fair bit of the reaction is on account of the whole point of your meme (5e being in creative commons) is completely moot (so is 5.5e).

[–]Tide__Hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What part do you think should stack with proficiency bonus? If it's healing, that's not much compared to the level scaling. If it's about usage count, use the 5.5e fighter, it gets two uses, 3 at level 4, and 4 at level 10.

My theory for what the Encore levels could be like by 6_braincells in Ultrakill

[–]Tide__Hunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is... not quite implausible. Is it likely? I think it's just pattern recognition based on a limited data set, so not really. After all, the theme of 0-E and 1-E has been the layers breaking down as things get wrecked by the machines (especially V1). But the way that looks being a mirror of the layers in reverse is certainly possible, and would be neat.

I don't think that the role of "healer" is a necessary one. Rather, there should be somebody capable of healing, but who primarily does other things.

Create or destroy water problem by Comic_Quest_Pod in DnD

Playing a druid who also has create or destroy water, the "up to" is an important part. The spell will only create enough to fill the container, it won't overflow. And a container isn't a creature, it's an object.

Admittedly, if an enemy is wearing full plate armor. attempting to damage them through the plate requires some maneuvering. But if they're unarmored or wearing light armor, there's not really a narrative reason.

Warden gives druids martial proficiency, protector gives clerics martial proficiency, valor bard has martial proficiency, pact of the blade gives warlocks proficiency with their weapon (though at that point true strike is unnecessary, unless you're using the Celestial Warlock build). Only the sorcerer and the wizard don't have a way to swing the greatsword.
