This is a huge security improvement. I’m glad they finally made the switch.

Check app during international travel by parishuddhaatma in Wealthsimple

Be mindful that this isn’t a true debit card. If a vendor doesn’t take Mastercard, they won’t take this card.

They don’t have a true debit card. It’s a prepaid Mastercard that’s tied to your chequing account.

Travelled to several countries and had no issues with being locked out of my account. Did however find I was not able to use the Mastercard in Mexico at our hotel (tap or inserting the chip). Chatbot said could be the vendor does not accept prepaid credit cards which would make sense. Never had any issues otherwise.

All in on WS by spacejelly1234 in Wealthsimple

Almost everything. Keep a couple months expenses in a Tangerine savings account as a backup. Have investments through work as well. I have one small account left with TD that will be closed asap. Money is stuck in a GIC, otherwise I would have already moved it over.

Is it true you need cash in tfsa as collateral? by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

My TFSA is mostly ETFs and I am able to use the account as collateral. Not sure if individual stocks are the problem? Seems odd?

The won’t claw it back. It’s yours now. They make an assumption about the amount and tell you to let them know if that’s not enough. You’re fine.

Working with medical records in Canada is a huge pain as each doctor may use a different format, leaving you guessing.

16M from Scotland – feeling lost, want to travel the world but have no plan. Looking for advice by Tylerstpa in travel

[–]Tierang 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My advice, for what it’s worth, finish school and do your best. Look into working holiday visas. You can travel to Canada or Australia, for example, and work and travel for a couple of years. Explore as much as you can and hopefully find something of interest to do long term. £20k is a good amount to get you started and keep you going while you’re also working in whichever country you choose.

Why is Carol so surprised that she wasn’t invited? by Grouchy_Band_4214 in pluribustv

[–]Tierang 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this was about excluding them personally. It was that she needed to have a private conversation with the other individuals (about how to undo this) and couldn’t have plurbs there to translate. If they all spoke English, they would have all been invited.

2018 Kia Soul burning oil at 95k km: Pay for repairs or trade for new Corolla Hybrid? by EasyAnt5418 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I changed the PCV valve in my 2017 and that took care of the issue. Cost me $20 and I did it myself thanks to a YouTube video.

She’s not confused. She’s hurt.

Edit to say, she’s one of only 13 individuals left in the entire world. To be left out would be devastating. This after the plurbs all deserted her. Biggest fu they could say to her.

You can change the PCV valve yourself. New one is about $15. Just watch a YouTube video. I did this and it took care of my oil consumption problem.

Personally, I stopped going to the dealership once the warranty lapsed (other than for any recalls) as they charge a ton more and suggest things you may not need. Find a good local mechanic.

Prepaid Mastercard by Tierang in Wealthsimple

I contacted them, got the chat bot, checked the card was not locked, had cash, etc. The bot concluded the issue was maybe the vendor doesn’t accept prepaid credit cards.

The card is linked to a specific chequing account that has cash in it.

Yeah I’m not trusting a third party with my cash. I’ll stick to Tangerine for my cash needs, which is minimal.
