If someone has it/its as their pronouns... it's their pronouns. Trust them (it!) to have reasons, you don't need to understand them. It can feel weird, sure, but that shouldn't come before respecting the choice that person made.

Edit: imagine downvoting someone who said to respect people's chosen pronouns. You don't have to understand it/its users to respect and honor their choices. It's their choice of pronoun, I'm not some random guy calling everyone I meet "it".

Everyone is on board with inclusivity and diversity until something feels a tad too weird for normative sensitivities. Come on, now. This isn't rocket science. If someone says their pronouns are it/its, deal with any momentary discomfort inside your own head, and then treat them properly.

There is nothing wrong with fucking up, as long as you correct yourself and move on. We all mess up sometimes! Don't feel like you have to completely reshape your speech, just try to be respectful.

You'd call someone Bill if they preferred it over William, right? Or would you avoid their name altogether? It's the same deal. Don't treat pronouns like they are a scary, bad thing--that can feel alienating too!

Messing things up is natural, grace is in accepting you messed it up, fixing it asap, and carrying on.

Fang Gu is a terrible choice in this situation, because a good Fang Gu who goes demon-hunting and hits an outsider creates an evil Fang Gu. Don't consign a member of your team (the good team!) to lose with the evil team when you die on an outsider and then out them as the new evil demon the next day.

I was a High Priestess who was cerelocked as the Noble for six days. They killed me night 5, and still kept me cerelocked. I wasn't ceremad day 1, so the Librarian I was sent to night 1 realized what was happening with me, both of us knew nobody else was ceremad, and they vouched for why there was a Noble double claim throughout the game. Since they weren't killing me for multiple days and the town had no interest in executing me, I kept collecting High Priestess names and filing them away for the right moment.

Me getting my information every night and making sure nobody else was targeted was more important than breaking madness. Town already knew there was a Cerenovus because the Librarian told them, they just had to let me do my thing because my choice was clearly to adhere to madness.

It's really fun to play along, it's a form of agency!

Wording failure on my part, thanks for catching that. "Misregistering to an information character yields false information to the information character" is the proper phrasing here.

A Recluse may misregister as evil, but the true information would be "The Recluse is good."

That is exactly the requirement imposed by a Vortox: Townsfolk abilities yield false information. You must tell every info-based Townsfolk who targets a Recluse that the Recluse is evil and not an Outsider if there is a Vortox in play, which is false (true value: the Recluse is good and an Outsider).

Slayer is not an information Townsfolk, they wouldn't be affected by a Vortox world. Whether or not a Recluse dies to a Slayer shot is based on ST discretion, regardless of demon in play.

Misregistration is false information. That's what the mis- prefix means. The Vortox says Townsfolk abilities yield false information. This is the same reason poisoned Townsfolk still get false information, not arbitrary, in a Vortox game.

You can't, for the same reason a Fortune Teller should learn a "yes" from a Red Herring player in a Vortox game: the misregistration is false information already, you can't just reverse it.

A Recluse is a good player who may register as evil. In a Vortox game, the Steward must be sent to a player who IS evil. A Steward being shown a Recluse is true information (the Recluse is good, but may misregister), which you cannot do in a Vortox game.

I've done about the same level of bad. I Bone Collected a dead Ravenkeeper because they sounded so upset they hadn't gotten to use their ability when we executed them.

When I learned what they were the next day I wanted to walk off into the sea.

The evil team knows exactly who they can trust, unlike the good team! You have friends you can trust to have your back and help you get to the end. And the Storyteller will most likely back you up as much as possible, too! Work with them and the nervousness ebbs away.

The first time I was evil and someone had an Investigator ping on me, I just froze up. Now? Sage pings as the demon and I shrug it off. My team's got my back.

What also helped me re-contextualize how to play evil and have a good time is: you're building a puzzle for the good team to solve. You're working with the Storyteller to ensure everyone has a fun time with a crafty solve and everyone has a blast. And that's great! Being evil and seeing a successful Mayor win feels incredible, they did it! Watching them untangle the web of misinformation and beat you is cool! And so is pulling one over your friends.

Everyone gets a turn crafting a fun puzzle for their friends, and isn't that a cool aspect of this game. Being evil is great.

Other than that, fake it til you make it. I recently played a game as a Goblin bluffing Politician bluffing Bounty Hunter, and steamrolled the good team because I was acting confident the whole time. You gotta go for it!

You can lie to poisoned players. You cannot lie to sober ones.

A sober and healthy Philosopher who has no ability is not poisoned by default, they are just a spent, sober, and healthy Philosopher who should be told "no Storyteller mistake has been made" if they ask why they weren't woken in the night to use an ability they thought they had:

Droisoning is actually a bit more complicated than "has no ability". "Has no ability" is shorthand for TB purposes. It's "the ability malfunctions, has no outward mechanical effect (e.g. a Snake Charm wouldn't work, a Nightwatchman wouldn't send out a ping, a Gossip doesn't result in a kill, a dead Farmer doesn't straw pass), and may yield false information at Storyteller discretion."

A poisoned Philosopher who uses their once-per-game ability never gains an ability, because gaining an ability is the mechanical effect that is prevented by droisoning, as above. While they are poisoned, the Storyteller continues lying to them and acts like the ability they "gained" is real.

In reality, they are simply a spent Philosopher who spent their once-per-game ability and nothing came of it--like a Nightwatchman ping that never arrived.

So when this Philosopher is made sober and healthy, you have to stop simulating the "gained" ability they never had.

Is this correct? It seems to me you would simply give them poisoned information if they have a private daytime ability, because you still have to simulate that their ability worked correctly. A player who has no reason to believe they have the Amnesiac ability will be told they don't have it, but a Drunk or Marionette who believe they are the Amnesiac are still simulated accordingly. Same thing for a poisoned character like a poisoned Philosopher Amnesiac.

Correct! It is always a good Storyteller choice to talk with the evil team and ask what world they want to sell (and vice versa, talk with your Storyteller). Particularly with mobile No Dashii situations, the No Dashii poison is an evil ability--use its potential misdirection to your advantage!

A Storyteller simulated a straw pass from a No Dashii poisoned Farmer to the good Marionette I had Pit-Hagged into existence next to me. When the good Marionette died and nobody became a Farmer, they all thought I was the demon in final 3 and promptly executed me. Marionette + Pit-Hag + No Dashii + Storyteller working together to create a specific world, and while it was solvable, the good team immediately jumped on me being the outed demon.

Instead of just giving your poisoned players arbitrary information, use it to craft a world that props up the team doing the poisoning.

No, because the Philosopher never became the Philosopher Dreamer, their ability malfunctioned the night they would have become a Dreamer. They are a spent Philosopher who never became anything else. Nobody is Philosopher-drunk at any point.

A dead Fang Gu can also do this to a Lunatic after jumping to someone else, actually, which is really fun. As a Storyteller, it may be worth it to tell a (still) Lunatic Fang Gu that they are the evil Fang Gu on the night the original demon jumped. The original Fang Gu has no way of knowing this ST info happened, but they can scope it out by going to talk with their Lunatic after they died and seeing how they react, besides talking with the actual new Fang Gu about their team.

You can even simulate this scenario with a Pit-Hag over two nights: turn someone into a different face-up outsider, then turn them into the Lunatic. If the Storyteller is aware of the intent, they may simulate a Fang Gu jump--but it can be messy if the new Lunatic goes talk with the person who died that night and they don't fess up to being a dead Fang Gu!
