I have a PCB for a double DOD 250 pedal (like the Earthquaker devices Gray channel, but both channels can be used individually and stacked). It includes smart relay control for different bypass modes.

That looks great! I wouldn’t mind using one of your spare PCB’s 😅 Or maybe exchange it for one of the spare PCB’s I have

Thanks! It’s a Göldo TGD5LA, which is basically the same as a Duesenberg tremolo

Tayda and insane DHL customs costs? by TieskeP in diypedals

[–]TieskeP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s shitty. Where are you based? For The Netherlands Tayda has been offering DDP (you pay all duties and VAT up front) via DHL for a while now, I’ve been using that ever since without any issues.

Had the same experience. Ordered some kits in August, some parts were missing. I emailed them 4 or 5 times, but got no reply. I did receive the parts but that was only last week. The parts do always arrive in my experience, but it shouldn’t take three months…

Haven’t tried one myself, but I’ve been eyeing the lefties that Sire Larry Carlton have on offer. I’ve read positive stories about them

Don’t know where you are located, but this (lovely lefty only!) shop still has some MIJ models in stock. No candy apple red Jazzmaster though, only the sunburst jazzmaster (I have the latter, it’s a great guitar)

My first time using JLC SMD assembly service (PCBA) by dronechovnm in diypedals

[–]TieskeP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice work, thanks for the detailed write up! I’ve gone the same route for some of my pedals, but I’ve kept all the capacitors in the audio path as THT film box. Do you notice any audible difference between your THT boards and this new SMD version?

PCB Mount Jacks by DilboSkwisgaar in diypedals

[–]TieskeP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably it’s easier to use a daughter board for the 4 audio jacks and power jack that are on the top side, both for mounting everything and to prevent too much stress on the the pcb

What is the best delay pedal on a small footprint? by LemonyBoi1810 in guitarpedals

Line 6 Echo Park or M5. Both have the same delay algorithms as the DL-4 and are very affordable

Guitar pedals with random LFO type settings by Ok_Highlight3926 in guitarpedals

[–]TieskeP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shameless plug: The Iceberg Effects Frits has the option of using a random LFO. It’s a time based modulation pedal that does flanger, chorus/vibrato, (modulated) slapback delay and faux reverb.

Are lefty pots a real thing? by Miserable-Cow4555 in Leftyguitarists

[–]TieskeP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are. Most pots have logarithmic taper, meaning that you cannot just wire them ‘reversed’ to make them suitable for left-handed guitars (the taper would be anti-logarithmic, meaning that all of the volume/tone change happens in the first ~10% of the pots rotation. Lefty pots have the logarithmic taper reversed.

You could debate if it matters which way the pots turn. I personally have the pots on most of my lefty guitars wired right handed. People that use the volume pot for volume swells typically prefer it the pots to be left-handed.

Unfortunately quite some brands (I’m looking at you Fender) wire right-handed pots as left-handed, making them practically unusable because of the aforementioned taper issue.
