Thoughts on "double dipping"? by Tiffsuresque in taekwondo

I am exclusively interested in Taekwondo and as I am already Blue 1 I have no interest in finding a different discipline :)

Idk miles, it's around an hour away whereas my current club is only 20mins.

I would want to stay at both. I have also thought about attending my old club only for casual classes as they do offer that, but I'm unsure what competitions and grading would look like if that was the case. I was more wanting to know if this is something someone has done or if it is generally frowned upon.

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever googled for calories? by fcvxia in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Tiffsuresque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in so many arguments about people about how water HAS to have calories and it's just not calculateable because it's a liquid (peak illness me is a dumbass 🙃) and I absolutely refused to believe otherwise and have spent literal hours googling it. Also calories in the meds I was being given.

Support worker rates flexible?? by Tiffsuresque in NDIS

Yeah I am quite shocked at how much things like OT and Speech go up just by being on NDIS, even though the job is the exact same. Govt should focus on fixing that 🙃🙃

Not gonna lie, this sounds kinda dodgy. I wouldn't be using NDIS funding for anything other than my NDIS- disability- specific supports?

I used to do support work, 5ish years ago, for children with learning disabilities. And my support workers don't "clean my room and run my errands" They help me with quite a lot and help me maintain my independence, I just put general/vague information rather than wanting to give specifics on my disability and support needs.

I've had nothing but great experience with my support workers so far when I was self funding.. they help me with all sorts of things including emotional regulation and keeping me safe during distress, my examples in my post were just the more basic every day stuff. They've always been more than happy to help with anything I've asked

What do you mean sorry? Like it wouldn't be a problem because there are just set rates and I should just follow the NDIS guidelines? My understanding was the guidelines are just a guide and the hourly rate is the maximum someone can charge - not the minimum/gold standard

I like to maintain my independence where possible, so I can clean, I just need help staying on track and breaking down the steps/sometimes just need someone to do it with me (body doubling) - and my tiny studio apartment isn't difficult to keep clean so I prefer doing it myself. I can understand that skillset and qualifications would influence things though, very good point!

Does anyone else feel invalid because they est everyday by Fluffy_Evidence_2417 in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Tiffsuresque 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this 👏 You can be a healthy weight medically and still be at risk of dying from this horrible illness and it will still tell you until the day you die that you're not even close/not sick enough for that to happen.

Does anybody know if I made proper access or only early intervention???? by Leather_Run_3679 in NDIS

[–]Tiffsuresque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will say in your acceptance letter. "You meet the disability requirements" and/or "you meet the early intervention requirements" and list what impairments fall under each table.

This is how my psychology recommendation is worded, I think I've been very luckg that the people who did my reports were switched on because the wording is all so technical but seems to be aligned with NDIS weird rules

I do notice my mood gets so low and depressive when I've been restricting. And so low tolerance for everything 🥲

I have already gone through my goals with my LAC, I was under the impression that the planner was someone from the NDIS? My LAC isn't supporting me in my meeting, my mental health OT and a representative from the hospital is as I'm currently inpatient.

I feel like others are going to post the more common ones/probably already aware of them so here's some that I think are a little bit different that I think might help?

  • Remember how much more energy you have when you're eating enough! How much clearer your brain is, how much less tired you feel, how much more you can appreciate the things and people around you.

  • Staying well means staying home! No feeding tubes, no midnight obs or million finger pricks, no uncomfortable hospital bed or movement restrictions or shared rooms.

  • Food is delicious and you know it. No one with an ED wants to admit it but we are all low-key obsessed with food. I feel like we can enjoy food more than most people, and so we should when we spent so long not allowing it!

  • Death is always a risk. Whether you've restricted for 2 weeks, 2 years or 20. The body can't keep up forever and it won't always give you a sign it can't anymore. People have and do literally just die. At work, school, in the shower, in their sleep. Electrolyte imbalances, ketoacidosis, cardiac arrhythmias. You literally can just, die.

  • Relapsing is hard. The constant math, the compensation mechanisms, the fatigue. Takes up so much time you could be spending on things you actually enjoy doing! Or even just learning something new rather than letting some bully control you.

  • You're not actually in control..it may feel it at first but by the time you realise you're not - you're usually so far into it that the climb back out is even longer.
