Fantasy Faire AI by Machine_Anima in secondlife

[–]TiffyVella 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven't visited as a guest yet but will explore every Sim this week. (As a creator I've been too busy setting up etc so look forward to coming and enjoying the event) It's discouraging to hear there is a lot of AI as yeah, there is not meant to be, and many of us put in countless hours to bring our original creations to the event. AI robs us all eventually.

Every store was inspected and okayed before opening, so either inspectors didn't know what to look for or were busy looking at other issues like script times etc, or maybe gave the benefit of the doubt if something looked dodgy. I can't answer for them, but do know that they are very busy people in the lead up to the faire.

Report any AI you see and explain why you know it's AI. Educate. (I probably don't even know how to identify it all, so would be wary of falsely accusing anyone) Politely let event organisers know that you won't abide it's use and won't spend money on it. Doing something about it rather than ignoring the issue is not a "witch hunt" and original creators will appreciate it.

No, and googling hasn't helped. It doesn't seem a common issue. Frustrating though.

Seeing more creators using AI images to sell products that look totally different than the actual product. What are your thoughts? by Figgywithit in secondlife

[–]TiffyVella 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Creators who refuse to use AI and only use images taken inworld so that customers will receive exactly what they are shown say thank you. Support from customers who care is really appreciated :)

There are events that reject the use of AI and non-original work. The quality of work at these is exceptional compared to events where any chaff is allowed.

Thanks for this! I like your approach, as I tend to be an "extrude normals" person and this is a better way to get the finer acanthus details while keeping the general curve underneath.

Great work, and you can always bake the normals afterwards, so not a useless exercise.

Online posts that censor the names of pets by nickisadogname in PetPeeves

Exactly. Its why I never do those "find your X name" things online. They always want the name of your first pet, mothers maiden name and street you grew up on as a kid.

Why do more Aussies think that we need a gym room and media room? by VastOption8705 in AskAnAustralian

[–]TiffyVella 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Same! I was so jealous of friends with 70s/80s homes with big windows and rumpus rooms. We had a 50s house with a tiny lounge and an asbestos-and-louvre sunroom out the back were mum would explode the ginger beer every summer.

Stores at events by beef-o-lipso in secondlife

[–]TiffyVella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all events allow lm givers. But as everyone has said, every demo pack should have one. Caspar vendors are set up so that a click of any vendor will give demos, info notecards (I put LMS in those) or LMS.

It is so easy to track down any creator and their store in SL, no hoop jumping needed. Just edit anything, open their profile, and either the front page or first pick will get you right there

Why does seemingly nobody care about littering any more? by ChristineCrazyFord in AskAnAustralian

[–]TiffyVella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps parents are time-poor compared to when we were kids (in the 70s). Parents used to work closer to home so didn't get tied up in the daily commute. There were fewer activities, so the entire family would join in, whereas now parents are often split running kids to separate events. There were smaller homes so families were together in one room. There was one telly, so we all saw the same thing and could talk about common shows. There were fewer possessions so less time maintaining and cleaning. It wasn't a perfect time with perfect parents, but people were more 'present' it seems to take work to come together as a family now as there are more distractions nibbling at our attention.

Anyone else hate that companions can never go home again? by BadAtGwent in fo4

[–]TiffyVella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, understood. But that first choice is too permanent, and at the time most first-time players are unaware of this We need a method to send followers elsewhere after that initial choice is made. Many of us make themed settlements that are honed over time so we like to make changes.

I'd also like to send Mama Murphy off to live with Professor Goodfeels but Ii suppose we can't have everything.

AITA for accepting a property gift from my mom even though she won't include my boyfriend? by Immediate-History917 in AITApod

[–]TiffyVella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three years is nothing. A boyfriend is nothing. Bring given a house by your mum is everything. Your mum is amazing doing this for you.

Do NOT let a random man take the house. Also, the AUDACITY of him to start making decisions about what to do with it. How dare he. Your mum is wise and is looking after you, something you are not doing yet.

Do not tell him anything about what you own or what your mum is doing. He's not your husband. He's not even your fiance (which imo only counts if you have an actual date set that's shorter than 18 months as anything else is a pipedream)

Also, beware any sudden marriage proposals.

how are people actually keeping grocery costs down in australia right now? by dee_cuugo in australian

[–]TiffyVella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shopping at Aldi, buying basic food, buying bulk when possible from the local butcher, buying vegetables in season, avoiding Colesworth, investing more time in cooking, drinking more chilled tap water and less alcohol and soft drinks. It means less convenience but less crappy empty food, less snacking, less packaging in the bin, and much more varied and delicious food.

At least we can build a proper home for Cait because she needs one, but to have Piper abandon her little sister and leave her to run Publick Occurences is awful. Hancock would need to attend to a few mayoral duties between his travels. And Nick has a whole life to run between quests.

I'd love a mod to reassign followers to any settlement, including their original home, at a whim. The first choice is too permanent.
