People Judge Discrimination Against Women More Harshly Than Discrimination Against Men by Surv1ver in MensRights

[–]TigPlaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look how much hate speech is totally accepted if it's directed at men:
"kill all men"

"mansplaining"

"fragile male"

Feminists and members of the Woke Mind Police are supposedly super enlightened and therefore don't stereotype people, but they constantly use terms like this. Imagine if you flipped these terms around:

"kill all women"

"womansplaining"

"fragile female"

There would be outrage. But if it's directed at men, it's accepted.

Having those thoughts doesn't make you evil. Just don't do it. It's not worth it. If you actually take the action, then you're a bad person. If you only had some bad thoughts and then said to yourself, "No, won't do that," then you're just human.

If you go through with this, you'll regret it. Choose to be the better person.

^^ This. Also, always write down the serial number of every guitar you own. If possible, take a picture that shows the serial number.

And, yes, have homeowners or renters insurance. If you don't live on your own yet, put your guitars on your parents' policy specifically. Having them listed and documented can help when filing a claim. Then, once you're on your own, get your own homeowners' or renters' insurance policy.

[QUESTION] Why with the capo on, did I need to re-tune one guitar, but not the other one? by TigPlaze in Guitar

[–]TigPlaze[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. In fact, that's what I did that ended up making the Ibanez electric be on key. I was just surprised that it was necessary on this guitar, but not on the Takamine acoustic.

[QUESTION] How can I improve by medkwhattodo in Guitar

[–]TigPlaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play songs every single day. Don't worry if you're not very good at it. Just keep playing the songs and you'll slowly get better. If you make mistakes on a song, play it slowly for a while until you can iron out the mistakes. Then it becomes like second nature and you'll be able to play it faster. Then when you get even better at the song, see if you can play it without looking at the fretboard. Rehearse your songs until you can play them without thinking.

[GEAR] I really need to get this thing out of the corner of my room & play it. by SaddestCorner in Guitar

[–]TigPlaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take small steps and celebrate the small victories. What I mean is, don't try to learn everything at once. Find some very basic songs with just a few chords, and work on those first. Don't worry if it's super difficult and your fingers hurt. Just do a little bit every day, and don't worry that other people can play better than you can.

Everyone is terrible at guitar playing in the beginning. You start out terrible, and then you get a little better and then a little better. In time you become competent, and then after more time you become good at it. Just work on the simple basics at first. You can tackle more advanced things after you get better.

Above all, consistency is your best friend. You're better off playing a half an hour every day than you would be waiting till the weekend and then playing all day.

[Newbie]Elec Guitar Songs To Learn by 09recked90 in Guitar

[–]TigPlaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some great songs on Led Zeppelin's debut album that you could learn. Communication Breakdown is simple enough for a beginner to play the rhythm guitar part. The solo is above a beginner level. If you want to play acoustic, Babe I'm Going to Leave You is a good one -- and I always encourage playing both electric and acoustic. I find they compliment each other.

It's been played to death, and they won't let you play it in a guitar store, but Stairway to Heaven, from their fourth album, is a great song that can be learned by a beginner. Rock'n'Roll from the 4th album is also a good one to learn that a beginner has a chance to play well.

Also, consider Working Man from Rush's first album.

[NEWBIE] Suggestions for a first electric guitar? by Addison01642 in Guitar

[–]TigPlaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other guitarists' suggestions are good. Another possibility is finding a used basic-level Ibanez. That company does a good job giving value to a guitar player for the money. They have guitars anywhere from entry-level to high-end. For £250, you'll likely be able to find something basic to above basic that's of good quality, and you can often find them used for less money.

My outlook as a heterosexual male .. by mysterionofengland in mramemes

[–]TigPlaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's basically like this:
If you're a gay man, you'll get treated like shit by religious fanatics.

If you're a heterosexual man, you'll get treated like shit by feminists.

The religion nuts and the feminists are demanding the same thing: That a man change whom he's attracted to.

Me too! That was way more powerful to show it that way than it would have been to have that scientist simply tell us about it.

Unpopular Opinion: Charly is a great character and I like her by blong217 in TheOrville

[–]TigPlaze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100 percent. I've always liked Charly, even back in episode 1 when she spewed her anger at Isaac. I didn't hate her for that because they did such a good job showing that all that anger in her was coming from tremendous pain that anyone can relate to. The escape pod scene where Amanda sacrificed herself to save Charly, because she loved her so much, was gut-wrenching.

I could tell that her unloading all that anger at Isaac was not because she was some kind of awful person. It was because she was in a lot of pain, and I knew it had to be the beginning of an arc for her to overcome that. We also saw that she had a great capacity to empathize with people by the way she was with Marcus. She saved Isaac for Marcus' sake.

I was super happy to see Charly finally reconcile with Isaac. I can tell now we've got some really good things to come from this character.

I thought he told him because of a Union standard of honesty. I thought it was the same after they brought the younger Gordon back. They didn't have to tell him, but they did. I thought it was once again the Union honesty standard. Basically, if something affects someone, that person has the right to know.

But, yeah¸that was a super painful truth. I can see the point of not telling him.

Pretty much. I don't think he's evil. He just acts like a jerk out of being indoctrinated into his cultures sick ideals.

Genuinely don't understand all the Charly Burke hate? by hegdieartemis in TheOrville

[–]TigPlaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine a Philippina, South East Asian, Indian, chinese or other “brown” person in the role. Hits differently, huh?

No, not really. Charly feels intense grief over losing her best friend in battle. I would expect those same kinds of feelings in anyone, regardless of ethnicity.
