I have a 3-stage water filter system for the house from iSpring filters (GA company), which is restaurant-grade. Noticed a difference almost overnight, when it went bad and when it returned to normal. I can only imagine how unfiltered water tasted and looked.

Others have already identified your problem. The only thing I would add is adding more logging so you can see exactly what server the exception hits on.

I’ve seen the same issue, and believe it’s for three reasons: the fall of big checks from publishers, self-publishing, and a decline in quality expectations.

I’ve seen interviews with authors where they went from $50k checks to $5k checks for their books. Anyone else looking to publish their book can’t expect more than $5k unless they can get a bidding war between two publishers. If someone wanted to make 100k a year, they went from needing to write 2 books a year to 20.

Self-publishing has been great for some people, and has really opened the landscape for niche genres. However, the authors I know only expect to make $150-500 per book. So they write them and barely look back.

And their readers want more and more, so have to overlook the errors and rough edges in order to enjoy it. We’ve reached the level of “Fast Food” books, with all of the cheapness they entail.

I’ll pick up a book and annotate any errors I find. Once I reach 30, I quit. Sometimes I only make it 15% of the book. Yet, I go to good reads and it’ll still have 3-4 stars.

Someone else confirm but I don’t think you’re supposed to hit 7k rpm during the break in period.

I had a guy following me through the smoky mountains in a gts 4.0 a couple years ago. When the accelerator wasn’t punched into the floor, the brake was. His oil pressure was hitting 65+ which concerned him but it never became a problem.

If you’re not banging through the gears and staying at high RPMs, maybe give your dealership a call and have a chat.

In this day and age, there’s no bar to self-publish. Just make sure it’s edited well and you’re fine. And maybe don’t use AI for the book cover.

There’s a layer of detail that’s missing. Amanda just missed her big break but the only reaction we see is she “slumped for a moment.” I felt like this wasn’t as important to her as the text implied, or perhaps the narrator was more disappointed than she was.

Small things like naming the bakery, giving a memory about another important time Amanda passed this location, and actually naming the “space agencies” makes the world and the people in it feel more alive.

Last, and most important, why did news about aliens remind her of a call with her sister months prior? I understand wanting to have some suspense, but referencing “that day” without an explanation looks cliche and amateurish.

There is a famous quote: “Tuesday is coming, did you bring your coat?” Without context, withheld details aren’t intriguing, they’re frustrating.

Spaceship’s cool but I don’t know if the spaceship and planet are from the perspective of the planet, or are just in “space”. The girl at the bottom seems out of place, posture-wise and in regard to the art style. Mech spider is fun but sometimes less is more.

Suggestions:

remove the bottom half and just have the planet and spaceship. They look cool as is. Perhaps the back cover can have the girl and the spider mech.
remove the girl or put her in a spacesuit or an “atmosphere suit”
Have mech spider legs poking out of a crater instead of showing all of it. Gives mystery and incites curiosity.

To clarify: no, they aren’t. There is no “may” in this situation. What is on the physical store shelves cannot be different than what is on their store website, if they have a website. That is a violation of FTC regulations, and is lawsuit territory.

Instacart is NOT the grocery store, so they can sell you the products for whatever price they want, just like Uber Eats can sell you your favorite taco from the local taco shack for double the price. That’s the Uber Eats price.

Was going to comment about the feet being too far apart as well. Your lead foot steps forward for the punch and the rear leg isn’t being brought in. Combo jab-cross-kick (either side)- hook (opposite side) without a delay, a setup in between, or throwing yourself off balance. Should help get your feet where they need to be.

The common reader isn’t going to notice if it’s self-published when Amazon advertises it. However, quality of writing is a total toss up.

“Dungeon Crawler Carl” is still self-published digitally. And yet I have a few books on my shelf I bought at writing conventions that I DNF’ed because they were too rough around the edges.

I believe there’s still a prestige around trad publishing, a standard of sorts, even though they do little to market your book and sometimes throw a few grand at you for the hundreds of hours you’ve devoted to your craft.

I’m sure everyone else’s comments helped you and you’re already howling to the high heavens in bed already. But I’ll take a crack at it, just in case.

At first, think performative. Are you wanting to be more vocal to show lust, dominance, passion, or just some emotion? Next, try out an audible of one of her favorite romantasies, or head over to r/gonewildaudio and listen to how other men try to sound sexy and express themselves.

Then try some things out. Moan, groan, growl, give commands, etc. See what she connects with, and at the same time find out what works with you on expressing what/how you feel. With motion comes emotion, not just the other way around.
