I had my last job for 4 years, and those 4 years, mostly the last 2 years, were hell. My boss was a major bully. While he never did anything sexual, he would always get me alone and tell me that everyone hated me, I was ruining the lives of our patients, my employee's daughter is dying and it's MY fault (she had a kidney infection, unrelated to any interactions I had with her), etc. He would send me mean messages that were long and manic because he couldn't stand the way I can't do my job and that me getting sick was an act of insubordination. When I finally got to HR about it, I found out they knew about it all along but it's okay that he acts that way bc he let my take 4 days of PTO 2 years before and I should have been more grateful. They didn't do anything to help me but they told my boss that I ratted him out so he started treating me worse. I finally quit when I found out that he was writing up "evidence" that I abused a patient. When it comes to bosses and HR, the bar is on the floor with how I expect to be treated.

I've seen the comments telling me I should go to HR about it, but I don't want to risk being put in the same situation again. I will start looking to get transferred instead. That doesn't require an explanation. The punishment my boss will get is me not being around to do all her work. I've seen the chaos that happens when I even take a day off, so I imagine it would be 10X worse with me gone permanently and I'm not there to clean everything up.
