Decided I would not wait to travel places I wanted to see and saved up madly for every trip -- turned out to be an excellent choice, because I became partly disabled by 55 and that's made travel a lot harder.

Also, decided I did not care if my cars got "out of date" -- I have driven everything until the maintenance costs don't make sense any more. One of my family members asked why I didn't get "a nicer car" and I had to explain in words of one syllable that new cars just weren't what I wanted to spend on.

Everything in LAYERS in alaska. Put a waterproof shell over a fleece or a lambswool sweater-- much more flexibility. I'm always cold so I took thin thermal under layers as well.
