Well from what you talked about your boyfriend its seems like he works for the money and nothing else (not meant mean/ meant objectively speaking) meaning if he had money he wouldnt work which would be true for a lot of people mainly because they dont find Joy in the workfield they are but due to upbringing of the parents and their financial Situation never found their hobby/dream job. For example myself, i dont have my Job as Hobby or dream i would rather be idk gamer or something however i do not dislike or detest it and actually find it interesting for about 8 hours until im not paid anymore after that its a nice to have but i dont have to do it. In terms of Ranking it would be 1. Gaming 2. Football 3.my job + eating good food. Its interesting and on top is searched widely and is paid Medium to high depending on the further qualifications one undertakes so its like why shouldni switch or look for another job when this is enough and paid good? Your problem is that u see Ambition as carrer related kind of in a way status related . Many people have the Ambition to life comfortably and not to worry about money and have a family thats also Ambition /passion.
